    Nick's old 1/72 FW190 kits

The Hasegawa kit is a relative newbie, being tooled in 1976. And it shows: Instructions are quite nice too: Both kits had decals that were curled up rather horribly so I have sourced alternatives. Nick.

    Nick's old 1/72 FW190 kits

So, taking the Frog kit first. I thought there must be some parts missing when I first opened the box - not a lot is there: Here it is all spread out: You'll notice there isn't even an attempt at undercarriage bays - think this will be built 'wheels-up': Pretty basic instructions too...

    Nick's old 1/72 FW190 kits

Well, for this group build and tribute to Alan I have been for a deep-dive into the stash and pulled out a couple of dusty old kits that have been with me for probably 45 years or more. I give you the Frog 1/72 FW190A4 and Hasegawa 1/72 FW190A5: I can remember buying the Frog kit in probably...

    Made Redundant

Well, sadly I worked my last day this week at the employer where I've been quite happy to spend over six years. I'm officially employed until the end of next week but still had some holiday owing. I was one of the last to go after the majority of employees were given notice towards the end of...

    Nick's Heller 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini - Mr Bowcat's Racers GB

Well, here she is all finished. Its an old tooling and neither particularly well detailed or great in the fitting, but I am satisfied with how she turned out. The Zero paints and decals went on very nicely. Thanks Bob for suggesting the Group Build which gave me the motivation to dig this one...

    Nick's Heller 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini

Well, that didn't go too badly. I do like the Zero paints. This was clear coated with X22 before I applied the decals, which went on very nicely although the stripes will need trimming in a couple of places.. I'll put the next update in the completed section once its all assembled. Thanks for...

The difference between what we have and what we had

Just in case any of the leavers are stalking this thread, here are a couple of gratuitous cat pictures. Firstly the one that likes to sleep on my Mum's decking even though it lives next door.... And this one decided to join us for dinner one evening on holiday earlier in the summer... Nick

    The Motorbike Thread

Well, its been a while since I posted anything on this thread, but I did get the CCM sorted out and I've enjoyed using it for commuting to work all summer..... Nick

    Nick's Heller 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini

So the next area for attention was the door cards. As they come these are pretty poor..... The filled holes are where the rubbery roll cage was meant to attach. After looking for some online images, I progressed to this... The mouldings towards the top of the door card are meant to be pull...

    Nick's Heller 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini

Moving on to the engine bay, I opened up the end of the air intake which was solid.... I then went ahead and added some HT leads from copper wire with fine aluminium tube for the fittings. I also added a bit of detail to the oil filler cap... And I added a rudimentary coil onto the...

    Nick's Heller 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini

Well, apologies for having gone awol for so long. Anyway, I have been doing some work on the Renault and that roll cage was the first thing to tackle. I set to with some brass rod... First go at images on the new forum, and doing this from my phone so hope it's alright. Next up were the foot...

    New broom and all that......

ok, various things have kept me from posting for a while (mainly in my own head, I think), but now hopefully I can get back to being a bit more active once I become a bit more conversant with the new format. John has kindly amended my forum name with the changeover to the new platform - my old...

    Nick's Heller 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini

Managed to make a bit of a start.... Rear body panel has been glued in place and reinforced with some sprue goo... These horrible ejector towers have been removed from the inner wheel arches... Much nicer... And these plus a couple of other parts have been fixed to the floorpan...

    Nick's Heller 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini

Welcome to my entry in this Group Build. Its Heller’s 1/24 Renault 8 Gordini; a kit dating back to 1968 according to Scalemates. The Renault 8 was launched in 1962 - the same year as me funnily enough – and was a rear-engined, four doored family car, initially sporting a 956cc four cylinder...

Welcome to Mr Bowcat's Racing Car & Bike GB. Chat thread

Well, with the start date rushing upon us, I'm hoping this group build will kick-start me into being able to re-engage with this happy place once again. So thanks Bob for setting this one up. My chosen victim: I'll hopefully get the introductory post up next week.... Nick
