    Macross on Disney

Personally, I do think the singing bit is a bit overdone, probably unique to the Robotech/Macross genre, but I do like the fighters and mecha. Here are a couple of the kits that I have and have built. There are more. Now you can see why I like them. Till later.

1/35 SADF Eland Mk7 (AML 90) "Noddy Car"

Well, Operation Dust is underway. Not too sure, but I'm feeling my way through the process. Have applied liberally, now the delicate process of removing the excess. Wish me luck!

    Macross on Disney

To my surprise I discovered that Disney were showing some Macross anime series on their streaming channel here in the UK. Macross Frontier showcases some lovely computer generated animation of the VF-25 Valkyrie. I have seen 1/72 kits for the fighter and am now watching the series where they...

1/35 SADF Eland Mk7 (AML 90) "Noddy Car"

Well, I've given it a wash, added some mud. The Browning looks great. Wait for it to dry, seal and add the dust. Then the wheels and antenna. Till next time.

Wheeled artillery, not a new thing...

The war raging out in Ukraine has highlighted the need for and versatility of wheeled artillery. On the modern battlefield as you are aware there are drones & counter battery artillery radar. The idea of fixed artillery positions is out of date and only possible if the opponent does not have the...

    Old modelling handbooks/guidebooks/manuals

Hi ya, matey! I hope you don't mind me posting on your thread. I do agree that there is a vast ocean of knowledge knocking around in the older printed "how to" manuals. I have the following on my shelf and this thread reminded me of their existence on my shelf. The problem with the Internet is...

    Hailsham model show

Had a great day out this last weekend with members from my club (Horsham Modellers Club) at the above event held in Eastbourne. What caught my eye and provided a good chuck were the tongue in cheek builds by a group called "Just for fun modellers". Here are few examples of theirs...

1/35 SADF Eland Mk7 (AML 90) "Noddy Car"

Managed to lay down some colour, very pleased thus far. Till next time!

    Horsham Modellers Club

We exist in a modelling black hole in Sussex. In search for a modelling community, we have banded together and are a small to medium size club with about 8 or so members. Annually we go on pilgrimage to Telford and attend the Scale Modelworld event held there, showing off our builds, trying to...

1/35 SADF Eland Mk7 (AML 90) "Noddy Car"

It's been a while, the weather is warmer and its time to throw some paint at the Noddy car. Primer is down, used Tamiya fine surface primer, light grey. Did a bit if pre shading, which is something I should have done with the Rooikat. Anyway, things are moving forward. Not sure I'll get more...

    Takom 1/35 SADF G6 Rhino

Well the wire grab handles look much better and more robust. I had to use a harder wire for the long grab handle above the door as the copper was too soft. The next tricky task is to remodel the headlights, thankfully I have unearthed some really good photos to base my work on. Till the next...

    Takom 1/35 SADF G6 Rhino

It's been a while, doing research and asking questions. It turns out that I needed to rotate the gunner copula by 90 degs and simplify the upper deck. I'll look to replace all plastic grab holds with wire. Still chipping away. Till next time.

    Takom 1/35 SADF G6 Rhino

After half assembling the hull, I had to chuckle because it reminded me of an early ATAT walker from the clone wars, missing a leg. Anyway, pleased with my progress so far. Though I need to ponder the headlights which too are different to the variant depicted in the kit. Till the next update!

    Takom 1/35 SADF G6 Rhino

Here is something different. When land mines are a constant menace, you get inventive. https://m.facebook.com/groups/1334352976643803/permalink/7013008545444856/ A converted Ford F250, nicknamed " telefoonhokkie " which is the telephone box in English.

    Takom 1/35 SADF G6 Rhino

Well, I have been tinkering with the turret and almighty 44 calibre 155mm main gun. Removed to top storage rail that I had initially fitted, removed the bush bar mounting detail around smoke launchers. Fitter rear access door and decking, just missing a deck chair... Mounted rear flood light...

    Takom 1/35 SADF G6 Rhino

As you can see into the driver cabin, I decided to add a driver. I chose the driver from the MiniArt British AFV crew to adapt for the job. His uniform only comes in one colour, Nutria Brown. So, I'll probably paint him dark earth/buff, the interior is Cremeweiss and khaki green, with a...

    Takom 1/35 SADF G6 Rhino

I'm adopting a modular build approach. There was a nasty surprise with regards to the copula's as the vision blocks and the body are one and the same. Some careful masking is required. Onwards and upwards, till the next update.

    Takom 1/35 SADF G6 Rhino

Here is the kit. Surprisingly, there is quite a bit of flash around the ejector points. Most of it is not visible, but there are two in the drivers cab, but relatively easy to deal with. The suspension is quite complex, have a look at this. The stabilisers and drivers cab are mostly done...

    Takom 1/35 SADF G6 Rhino

Before it went into production the prototypes were fielded against Soviet & Cuban backed forces in the then not so Cold War, conflict on the border of the then South West Africa (Namibia) and Angola. This indigenously developed 155mm mobile artillery shares dna with the current German...

1/72 Hasegawa VF-1 Valkyrie Battleroid on deployment in the city

Came across this wonderful photo of my Battroid on the Gunpla SIG. It was on my clubs table (Horsham Modellers Club) at Telford SMW23.
