Next figure painting project
Thanks guys for your kind words. I've got another dozen or so of these tiny medieval guys coming today so I will be keeping busy through the long Canadian winter. This is a size comparison photo as an excuse for the less than great painting skills. John- wotan

Next figure painting project
I got a black base coat on my new project figures. The hunter, which youo can't really see too well in black, is just a superb little print. Even his bow string is there and all at 28mm size. I have done the Knight. Not an easy paint job and not entirely up to expectations but OK for the size...- wotan

Hi Brian I have never tried to tree nail a deck. What I have done is just mark the nail positions with a fine black felt pen, like your first pictures. That in itself seems to me to simulate the deck nailing pretty well. John- wotan

Brian Good to see you're off again. I don't think the model company scrimped on the pins. They probably expected people to remove the pins after the initial gluing was dried and to replace them with small scale Tree Nails. In other words very thin wood dowels drilled and glued where the pins...- wotan

Next figure painting project
After painting the little guys for my tavern I got the bug to do some more. So this is the start of another project. First of all the quality of this little figure is just outstanding. He is modelled after Albrecht Durer's famous knight engraving. This is the 28 mm figure. and just to show...- wotan

Brian If you do have problems with forming the bow, it is sometimes useful to fill in between the bulkheads with balsa wood blocks that you can sand to the correct shape. Then the planking will line up easily over the balsa. John- wotan

Just checked on Chatgpt and apparently Victory did carry davits at Trafalgar after a refit a few years earlier. Boats were still carried in the waist on skids however although they would be lowered away while in action. John- wotan

Brian I am not 100% sure but I don't believe that Victory had Davits at Trafalgar. Ships boats were traditionally hauled in and out via a tackle using the main mast yard, or the main mast fore stay. I would vote for no ships boats on the main deck but its your model so go with your feeling. John- wotan
