    Latest Acquisitions (2022)

So not very exciting but heard good things about this range in terms of performance..... Laquer based paints are out and these seem to be the best water based ones.... If I get in ok with this, might order some more in the future. ATB. Andrew

    Latest Acquisitions (2022)

Hi all So this arrived today for my Mossie build.... It really was very expensive given the price of the kit (excessive delivery charges and VAT were the main cause). However, I've lost two weeks to my work on the DIY nose and there was no guarantee how much longer it would take and more...

Tim’s 1/48 Tamiya Mosquito FB Mk VI

Hi Tim, Here's the other version. Although in hindsight I think the double-page spread has better definition. As for the amount of metal in the "footprint", it's just dawned on me that we're only seeing the tracer rounds......about 1 in 5 I believe...... that really is a lot of lead...

Tim’s 1/48 Tamiya Mosquito FB Mk VI

Here you go....I think I have a better version somewhere else but you get the idea...... Just imagine being on the receiving end of that.....4 20mm cannons and 4 .303 machine guns...

Andrew's 1/72 Tamiya Mosquito Mk XIII

Morning all And so I have had a massive stroke of good fortune on this build, I have stumbled across what might best termed the 'semi-official' WW2 history of the 409 Sqn RCAF aka 'The Nighthawks' on the Aircrew Remembered website (link HERE). I've not heard of this site but they have scanned...

    Latest Acquisitions (2022)

Ok. So as some of you may have seen, my Tamiya FB VI sacrificed itself to become a Mk XIII for the Mossie GB after it turned out Tamiya's Mk XIII I had in the stash came with the wrong nose. This of course left me without a Mossie FB Mk VI for my 'Hunters and Hunted' collection...... Clearly...

Andrew's 1/72 Tamiya Mosquito Mk XIII

'Lonesome Polecat' (The Hunters and the Hunted) Good evening all Now I have got my 109s over the line, I can crack on with this GB kit. Firstly though a big thanks to Ian for organising this GB. It actually allows me kill three birds with one stone. The first is that this will be my first...

'The Hunters and the Hunted' - completed builds

Hi all A general thanks for all the support. Out of interest I did some more research to see what happened to Manfred Dieterle. Whilst there is some more info, none of it categorially states whether or not he survived the war, although I kind of get the impression he did from the phrasing but...

1/72 Tamiya kit - should I complain about these wings?

Hi all I'm about to start my Mossie GB kit and have noticed these marks on the wings.....should I worry and complain? Or will I be ok? I can't feel anything with my finger or nails when I run over them, the wings don't seem obviously distorted and both of the other Tamiya Mossie kits I have...

'The Hunters and the Hunted' - completed builds

Good evening all As many of you know, I have been putting together a collection of 1/72 kits and reference material in some way shape or form connected to the British WW2 bomber offensive, with the title being as above - 'The Hunters and the Hunted'. The idea started when, in late 2019, I...

    What's on the bench 2022

So an unusually tidy bench for me!!!! Now that all I have to do on my 109s is to remove the canopy masks and add aerial wires, I had a tidy up ready for the next build.....just to left of the 109s!! ATB. Andrew

Royal institute Christmas Lecture 198: From Magna Carta to microchip – Measurement and navigation in war

Royal institute Christmas Lecture 198: From Magna Carta to microchip – Measurement and navigation in war Morning all So I'm currently reading Richard Morris' biography of Leonard Cheshire VC and of course it mentions a number of pilots that flew on the Dambusters raid, including Harold "Micky"...

    Latest Acquisitions (2022)

So I've got to stop listening to the James Holland and Al Murray podcast......or show more backbone!! Although in this case they actually had two full shows discussing various topics with the author. 2nd hand and less than £4 delivered. ATB. Andrew.

Gardening questions - odd white substance in underside of leaves

Hi all Not my usual area of questioning but my wife (she does most of the gardening) noticed a funny whiteish-yellow substance on the underside of leaves and on the stem of a small variegated leafed shrub we have, We've done the usual internet research but haven't been able to work it out...

So realised at the weekend, when I was showing my mate the collection so far, that I had forgot to add this kit to the list. ATB. Andrew

Andrew's 2x AZ Model Bf 109 G-6 - JG300 'Wilde Sau' (The Hunters and the Hunted)

And so decal placement has started.... Approx 55 per plane.... The AM decals are very nice but once down they won't move, making proper first time placement essential, which isn't easy as you can see if you look closely....I also think the crosses may be slightly overscale based on the side...

    Name that vehicle!

Hi Steve, I am no expert on British armoured cars but I am pretty certain that is a Humber armoured car of some type. Looks very similar to the Daimler armoured car from the side in many ways. However the sloping front is the giveaway, as it is stepped on the Daimler, I know because I've built...
