Hi Neil, yes aftermarket decals, Kits World, so many schemes out there but perhaps not enough time to do them!! Depending on my work load, build times vary, this one took a couple of months on and off, which is about average for me.- Farmerboy

Hi Steven, I didn’t polish the plastic but did prime the model with SMS jet black which gives a high gloss finish, I was trying to achieve a more anodised finish to the aluminium to try and make the model look a bit more war weary which I why it has a more patchy appearance on the wings.- Farmerboy

Tamiya P51B
Built a lot of Mustangs over the years but always come back to Tamiya, this one was built using Montex masks which need care as they can stretch out of shape. Is scale modelling a cheap or expensive hobby?
I think most will be surprised just how much we all spend on this hobby, I went to the local model shop to get a few things, glue, tape, paint etc and ended up spending nearly £50 and no, I didn’t succumb to buying a kit! Good 1/48th model Aircraft can easily cost £50 upwards so it doesn’t take...- Farmerboy

Got this one ‘free’ if I spent over fifty quid on other models from the Airfix website, tried some weathering on this with oils, happy with the results. SMS Paints and the obligatory masks for all that glass!!- Farmerboy

Welcome, and nice to know I model for the same reasons as you!! TV drives me nuts, very little of interest for me so the modelling den is my sanctuary. Eduard can be good but I find them over engineered and fiddly (1/48th) try a Tamiya kit, you won’t be disappointed.- Farmerboy
