Next to appear whilst paints, glues etc. dry on other builds.
This kits manufacturer is not named but a direct copy of the Trumpeter/Magnifier offering with extra decals to do Ken Miles car.

Loads of very well packaged sprues and pipes, hoses, springs, screws, PE etc. The mouldings are crisp and detailed with very minor seams and no flash however there is a ton of (very well done) chrome which just doesn't belong and needs stripping. I have bought AM switches, rivets, bolts, screws, braided hoses, decals and a spare wheel/tyre. The box contained the bodywork and some clear parts which are the worst part of the kit. I built the seats previously as in another thread.

32 page clearly illustrated assembly book with some dodgy paint call outs. Strangely some parts are pre painted in questionable colours and there is no distributor, ignition leads, starter motor snd the top of the timing chain cover is missing - will attempt scratch building components. The Ivory coloured parts have been stripped of chrome and the missing parts locations highlighted.

This is going to take quite a while so please bear with me for sporadic updates.

Finally finished scratch building the distributor and HT leads and hopefully in the correct firing order. Covered the top of of the timing cover and starter motor + coil WIP.
Studying the kit engine and photos of the 1:1 there is a glaring ommission- no water pump supplied so will try to make a facsimile but maybe a step too far for my skill level.

Decided to leave the overscale drive belt well alone for fear of really damaging something so decided to bling up the pulleys a bit to divert attention.
Fabricated the coolant pipes from and to the water pump which will disappear into the tunnel of the cockpit and reappear at the front and onto the radiator. Once finessed and painted will add flexible hoses and clamps in the appropriate locations.
Blocked up some spurious coolant holes and prepped for oil lines and made a oil supply/return unit for the oil cooler.
Thanks for following along.

Certainly going the extra mile with this Stefan. Very neat scratching.

Thanks for the kind comment.
Doing extra on this as it's a large scale so more can be seen and it's my all time favourite Le Mans car - told the missus it goes in the coffin with me finished or not !

Further advances on the engine. Hollowed out the core (welch) plugs, added some bolt heads and painted numerous colours. Very light weathering and dry brushing.
Dry fitted the exhaust headers and collectors - very happy with the welds but still not sure if too colourful, have to mull it over.

Did some more detailing today. The narrow braided hose was in the kit but frays terribly so sprayed it with hairspray and painted it aluminium with a Galherri marker. The thicker braided hose is Tamiya.
The destructions would have you connect the transmission cooling hoses to the engine inlet manifold! so am rerouting to oil cooler when fitted.
Decided that I liked the exhaust colours so after an hours manipulation managed to cement them in place.
Thanks for looking and the great comments and likes. 20251018_154027.jpg 20251018_154013.jpg 20251018_153817.jpg 20251018_153700.jpg

Been busy stripping unnecessary chrome and deleting visible ejector pin marks. Added weight saving holes to internal engine bay panels.
Spent 8 hours making the doors fit properly which has worked really well - may have to shave a bit more off to allow for primer, paint and clearcoat.

I love to see a nice engine. It's normally aircraft engines I'm referring to, but this is a work of art.
