Just a quicky, and then I won't interrupt your build with my prattle....

I own a Panther Kallista V6 2.8i, and a few years go we went to a Charity classic car show at Oulton Park. For a fiver we could have three laps around the circuit. We paid and when the time came around 20 cars lined up for what we thought would be a burst around the track......Fat chance!

A marshall car lead the way at 30mph for the 3 laps, we even had to endure the 'short circuit' too. The A.C. Cobras even dropped back to have a quick flat out. The marshall stopped everyone when he saw what was happening and made them trundle back into line......Tosser!

And now back to the build!!!!

Its a tad dark to be totally authentic Trey ..... and the camera makes it look even darker/deeper.

At least its not a boring red one eh?

im feeling this build Colin..nice work so far..

The dio idea is pretty good...or perhaps you could do a 'on track' scene?? Bombing around a corner or some such....Then again, mounting on a plinthe would look pretty cool..a bit more 'classic'..decisions decisions...

any news on the wheels?

The wheels in the photo are whats being used, theyre alloys off an AMT mustang.

The dio......... i'm thinking of a road, grass verge and drystone wall

Soooo ... i thought i'd do a base, and also thought that it might offer a few tips i've come across on here if i did a sort of step-by-step.

made a base out of balsa, laid polystyrene sheet over it and 1200 wet and dry paper over that to form the road then melted the edges of the poly sheet to get a natural edge.

Made up some poly-filler and let it set in a tub about 1/4 inch thick to get the 1/24th scale. Then break it into stone slabs.

Assembled the wall in situ NOT glueing the bottom to the base.

When dry take out and paint, light grey, then darker grey whilst the lights still wet to blend, then a darkish green to give a little moss effect, after dry wet areas with PVA and add some mixed scatter to for moss and lichen growing on the wall.

Make up the floor of the base with balsa to get a ditch effect, paint to get a colour base and add the gravel, mud and dirt (of your choice) glue the wall in situ so the dirt fills the cracks and looks natural

Add some grass, a tree and some leaves dropping on the roadside.

Add the white lines and dirty the road up a little, this is quite easy as all you need to do it tip dirt on and the fine dust will settle in the wet and dry ... just brush off what you dont need so it looks ok.

I've some how missed this, sorry Colin, love the GTO and the wheels suit it, I also agree, the Green is so much better looking than boring Red...

Thank you for the dio tutorial also, I promise I will give this one a go some day soon, seeing as I prefer making the car models at the moment it would be great for taking photos with them on it...
