Hi Guys
This is the Trumpeter 1/32 SU-27UB, OTB the only addition are the resin ejector seats.
the kits come together rather well, and I used the Hataka paint sets, which are superb, also I have 2 reed oak figures, 7 more to add, also used fox bat masking stencils , but the adhesive is very strong, so I ended up making my own.
hope you enjoy.
The Sukhoi Su-27 (Russian: Сухой Су-27; NATO reporting name: Flanker) is a twin-engine supermanoeuvrable fighter aircraft designed by Sukhoi. It was intended as a direct competitor for the large United States fourth-generation fighters such as the Grumman F-14 Tomcatand F-15 Eagle, with 3,530-kilometre (1,910 nmi) range, heavy aircraft ordnance, sophisticated avionics and high manoeuvrability.

Mike

Terrific finish and the camo scheme looks stunning. You must have a lot of patience. Also those Reedees figures really are outstanding. A real beauty

Mike,
oh WOW! That is really fantastic! Could you expand a bit on the camo stencils, and how you ended up making your own? I've a HB 1/48 Su-27 in the 'to do' pile, and was toying with the idea of a digital camo, but was put off by the complexity!

Hi Dave
don't get me wrong the masks are ok but stick like the preverbal stuff to a blanket, I brought some flat sheets of Tamyia masking, I then stuck the mask to these and used the fox bat on the top as a template, and cut them with a scapel.
its Avery long job I have to tell you, going negative to positive on the masks, well I nearly scraped it at one point, and you have to do it in stages, some times I had 3 airbrushes loaded with the blue and light blue and 1 x grey, and just very careful. I did it in stages, a hand held hair dry is essential as well.
also inbetween masking Humbrol clear was applied, to create the barrie and stop bleeding on the panel lines etc, hope that helps.
Mike

Mike,
thanks for that - considering that I've got a 1/48 version, I'm sure that will be even worse, being smaller. I think for sanity's sake I'll stick to a traditional camo pattern!
