Nice going John, I remember building this kit +/-25 yrs. back when it was a brand new release, loved building it. That was a great year or so, Tamiya had come out with their Famo, Dragon Wagon. this Marder, maybe their Wespe too. All in close succession of one another. Great exciting times then, heady days !

I've built the Marder Ron , agree that was a nice kit, as this is is , the moulding is superb, just me being the problem.

Finished the main build, took the whole of the gun assembly off, looks to be better for painting as with the wheels. Figures about done, just one arm to do .

Now doing the most interesting part , the buildings and the base.
Starting with the foam board, using my favorite Kappa Line for the surface and normal cheaper for the backing. 5 mm is the thickness of each board.
Removing the paper on the Kappa Line after marking out the openings. Once that is done the 2nd cheaper board is glued with PVA (as its paper to paper surface) to the rear to give some strength.
Gluing some thin sections of blue foam board was next using UHU pour above the window and door openings.
Next when I get some time will be the first coat of render to the walls.

Blimy a scratch coat first John? Joking aside is it a two coat render on that kappa board to stop it sucking in to fast and cracking ,can you not get away with one coat ,just a thought if you've got a piece of scrap try sealing it with some thinned down pva(uni bond )won't affect the adhesion but will cut back the suction . I'm sure you know what we're talking about. Dave

Yes Dave , ti's such a problem, of course should I use a thistle finish coat !
No normally a very wet coat of filler should go, I've mixed it with a very small pva before but this time it was wetter .
Time will tell when it's dry .

Sorry it's side as uploading diect from the phone .
Checked the plastic strip stock , think here's every thing I need for the frame. Luckily I have a roll of plastic film which should do for the glass.
Not the wait for the filler to dry.

Glad you got the kit built up ok and the gun issue sorted. For most of us the dio is there to show off the model but for you the model is only there to enhance the dio.

Just curious, were you leveling the surface to get a good fit? I have the same kit and want to avoid this problem.

Wabble, it's the reoccurring problem I have. Realised I'd left a part off, having attempted to glue before hand the next section. In the end it was easier just to cut the damned locating tab off !
Can't see you having any problems with the kit .
You'd be surprised it has happened to me a couple of times but realising the mistake in the nick of time to prise the parts apart before the glue had cured. It happens to all of us.
