discussion 1/35 scale dora railway gun

Hi all, after 4 years I have decided that in April after the cosford show iam planning on finally building my soarart 1/35 scale Dora railway gun...Dave(Gern) you've been asking for this for a while now sooo not long to wait. However my question is this because of the nature of the plastic apparently normal glue will not touch this so can someone help me with something that will and if possible post a picture of the bottle, just so I know what to ask for when I buy it. I will be doing an under construction thread on this and most likely be asking a lot of questions being that it weighs 60lbs and is abouts 6-7 feet long and has 3000 parts give or take in the box, so I hope someone can help many thanks.

I used Zap CA on mine with no problems Scott.

Cheers mate I have to admit a certain reluctance especially at 6ft long, but its just a kit all be it a big one.

Dave can you use the instaset stuff on this that you can use on ordinary super glue or CA? and how many tubes did you use?

I didn't have any Instaset stuff when I built mine so I guess you'll have to experiment on some sprue or spare bits - there are LOADS of those!


I bought one of the big bottles of Zap glue but only used about 1/4 of it - and some of that was wasted as I used too much in most places!.

What is it made from... It should be on the box or the instructions some place..


6ft long, 60lb and 3000 parts. Sounds like Mrs Scott has gotten a few new pairs of very expensive shoes. LOL.

Scott, I don't know if this is the brute you are going to build, but I had the pleasure of crawling all over it when I had a month wandering around Normandy and N. France. a couple of years ago


I have about a dozen pictures of it, so if they can be of any use to you we can arrange something when you make a start on it's construction.....

Have seen this recommend as it actually works the same as polystyrene glue but is more aggressive. View attachment 104627



It's a bit like plastiweld which you could also use.

thank you chaps I had some of that ages back and I really was not comfortable using it and if you left the lid off it evaporated in front of your eyes, but I will keep it in mind as a back up....always have a contingency plan it gets you out of most things.

It's a bit like plastiweld which you could also use.

I've just tried this EMA Plastic Weld and it hasn't touched the plastic at all I'm afraid. However, Mr Cement S seems to work. That might be worth a go Scott - certainly easier to use than CA.
