At long last have painted the building where it is required. Now doing the asbestos roof sheets that were used in parts of Ukraine in more up-to-date buildings.

Going to use 1mm plastic sheet as a base for the corrugated asbestos.

Plenty still to do before I think about spraying the Stug.

Only did the primer on the sheets to day .

Seems to be the best metal primer out there, had this bottle years , seems to last forever.

These are the jigs, bought the roof sheets years ago for this purpose, once glued to a section of timber, they are perfect.

All done, left to dry. The ones at the front will be folded in two as ridge covers.

More to do after 24 hrs of drying, even today !

Evening all.

Changed the aluminium roof sheets, two reasons, first, they were intended to look like aspeastos. Used widely in Ukraine in the 1939 40s . So in the end, I soaked some cardboard with a diluted IPA mix. Soon had the cardboard down to the corrugated pattern. Once dried with the hair dryer, I applied a thin coat of gloss varnish. This is to seal the paper, otherwise when I paint with acrylic it will soak it in and fall apart!

It might look a bit rough, but reading about asbestos sheets, they were like this, and cardboard to replicate them is recommended.

Entrance part glued on , hence the pins and metal block to hold the UHU por.

By this time I glued the entrance roof sheet on and attatched the sheets2026.webp

Note the ridge capping, where as courrugated steel would have a corrugated ridge the asbestos didn't, relying on a timber one.

Also cut the bottom line straight!

Plenty to do still.
Comments please, good bad or indifferent ;)

I love the look of the roofing sheets John, you've captured the aged asbestos feel very well.

If you don't mind me saying though, the wooden capping looks a bit too straight & true in comparison. Maybe it has been replaced lately by the homeowner? Or you still have plans for it?

Hi Andy I don't mind the comment , I rushed that part in fact. The troubly was using CA. Should have roughed them up a bit first.
Yes the asbestos sheets went well, apart from the size of the wave, should be a lot smaller!
