Hi guys!!


Now I have a break from my turkish project. Here comes my new Bf 109 T-2 in 1/48 scale.


The original plan was to use the Bf 109 T as a fighter on the carrier "Graf Zeppelin".


The "Toni" was no specific new development, but a modified version of the Bf 109 E.


The range of "T" has been extended to 11,08m, next a tail hook, air brakes were added to the wing surface and catapult launch hardware. The Bf 109 T was to be built at "Fieseler".


With freeze of the aircraft carrier "Graf Zeppelin", the "Toni" had become superfluous. Already 7 pieces have been built of the 70 planned hunters. ("T-1"). The remaining 63 specimens left the Fieseler factory as version "T-2" without carrier equipment (tail hook, air brakes, etc.).


My model shows the "Black 6" of JG 11, flown by Oberleutnant Herber Christmann, Norway 1944.


This kit comes from Academy. No "Wow-Highlight" but a solid base for a T-2. The assembly was simple and funny. No problems with the fit.


For painting I used colours from Vallejo (RLM 74, 75 76), Revell, Gunze (RLM 23 for the red flames) and ModelMaster. The meander I brushed freehand with low pressure and a 0,4mm nozzle. I already use the "Evolution" airbrushgun from Harder&Steenbeck.


For the weathering, dilute oil paint and various pastels came into use.


The guns in the wings are cannulas. The antenna wire is made of pulled sprue. The break hoses on the landing gear are made of craft wire. Finally everything was sealed with a matt clearcoat.

Great work Stefan, love that squiggle disruptive scheme. I knew of the T-version of the 109, but never knew they actually used any in the end. Probably a good thing those narrow landing gear legs never got to smash into a carrier deck. Would've made the Bf109's landing gear reputation even poorer.

Very nice Stefan. Nice controlled effects shading. It looks good and it also looks in service. Authentic.

Nice work. I knew they had started work on an aircraft carrier but I didn't realise they had started building aircraft for it.

I always like unusual variants of luftwaffe aircraft. This is no exception. Good job. Just a small nitpick- next time you do one of these, try to do the "flame" effect more wavy and less straight

The 'flame' at the front wasn't very 'flamey' on the original :)

The photograph was taken at Lister airfield in Norway. The aircraft was with 11./JG 11 in late 1943, flown by Oblt. Herbert Christmann, the Staffelkapitan.


The Bf 109 Ts had previously formed Jagdstaffel (Jasta) Helgoland, but after transfer to Norway were re-commissioned as 11./JG 11 on 30th November 1943. Together with 10./JG 11 they formed 'Kommando Skaggerak'.


By May 1944 only 1 Bf 109 T was still flying with the unit.

Well done Stefan - another great build of a really interesting subject. I didn't even know there was a carrier-born 109 variant!

Not strictly carrier borne as the carrier to bear it was never built :)


As Stefan said, initial production was carrier capable with the relevant fittings and equipment.

Forgive me if I say that the concrete "hard stand" almost out does the aircraft standing on it!!:oops:


That is an amazing reproduction of a cracked concrete "hard stand"!!:cool::cool:
