Whilst i'm waiting for my Me262 to dry I thought i'd open another kit just to see what's what.

This is my next choosen victim. 1/48 Cyber Hobby Ju-88 A4 converted to an A-17

Here is the conversion decals, scheme i'm planning and torpedo holders

Thank god for Eduard canopy masks. What a life saver.

Wish me luck :)

Cheers everyone. I'll try and post a few more pics of what i'm doing. But it is quite a simple build to do. The cockpit has enough detail in it although i am adding a little Eduard PE just to brighten it up a little.

The main sticking point is going to be that paint job. Still at least if i mess up then it can be easily hidden ;) lol

Made a start on a few items tonight. Not much done but at least I am doing some of it

Seatbelts and radio/radar boxes

LT F5b Torpedoes (scavenged from1/48 Revell He111 H6 kit), wheels and engines nacelles

Main instrument panel with fine copper wire being attached for wiring at the back

That paint job will be pretty amazing! I've just bought the Zvezda 1/72 A-17, although I'm not going to try anything as fancy as this one Al!

That paint job would drive me mad, great start on it.
Shouldn't be that hard to paint, scheme wise. Just lots and lots of squiggles. The airbrush control is going to be the hardest part

Got the seatbelts fitted tonight. Fiddly little so and so's. Got a little bit of tidying up to do as some cyno leaked. Still makes it look a lot better than with nothing

Just a quick question to anyone out there that knows there stuff regarding Luftwaffe aircraft (Stona!?!). I am getting ready to put my Ju88 together now and it won't take long once I start. so painting won't be far behind either.

The Peilgerät receiving aerial on the top of the fuse for a Ju88 has a clear cover (on the kit at least). in reality was this painted over or was it left so that the aerial inside was visible?

From what I can find Al, it is under a plexi-glass cover.

Peilgerät (PeilG) 6:

Codenamed "Alex Sniatkowski", this was a long and medium range D/F set and homing device. Frequency range was 150 to 1,200 kHz. A D/F loop made up of a series of metal strips in a "sunburst" pattern was fitted under a round, flush fitting plexiglass cover. A small "whip" aerial was also fitted to the FuG 10 radio mast. Manufactured by Telefunken.

Exactly as Joe describes it.

At 1/48 you might be able to represent antenna (lower photo) but you'll need to be brave to do the aluminium foil fixed to the inside of the plexiglass :)

Cheers

Steve

A little bit of PE added to the cockpit. Just to brighten it up a little :)
