Looking for a bit of shopping advice. I've seen both the Revell and Hasegawa offerings and the price difference is canyon-like.

The question I'm asking is as an "average" modeler, i.e. not a scratch-building kit-bashing rivet-counting maniac, which represents the best value for money.

So is the Revell one cheap for a good reason? or are it's failings only a minor issue?

And is the Hasegawa one worth the extra to make a really crackin machine?

Or is there a wildcard I'm missing?

I have a feeling I'm gona crunch it and buy one soon so I wanna know which way to turn.

Thanks

Stuart

Hi Stuart

I'm building the Hasegawa kit at the moment as part of a commission build. If you wait a month or so I can show you the results and possibly some build photos if I get the time. Initial impressions on the kit are good though, with crisp mouldings and what looks a fairly straight forward build.

Cheers

Paul

Hi stuart as far as im aware from reading a while back in some magazine or other , the revell 1/48 is the hasegawa kit re-boxed so go for the revell one-- youre getting the same kit but at least half the price, brucie bonus!!! Ive recently got off e-bay the revell 1/48 aichi 'val' and this is another hasegawa kit reboxed by revell ,superb quality but i only paid £8 plus postage!!, cheers tony

Hi Stuart

It seems that Tony is correct - they are the same bits of plastic. So, Revell it is!

Looking forward to the build of this and will post pics if and when I can.

Cheers

Wow..... big fail for the Hasegawa dudes!!!

Thanks for your assistance! Although ModelZone say that the Revell is out of stock and discontinued. Someone will have it still on the shelve no doubt! Tempted to get some resin/PE for it as well as it's long been probably "the" favourite of mine.
