Hi, going to fly it like it was stolen ! :-)

The flaps have been seperated from the wing. The flap seat was glassed for regidity. The flaps will have spar/rib constrution
The stab fully skinned weighs only 68 gr. with this aerie you NEED to keep the long tail very light, Regy designed it with a rather small tail surface!

As you can see on the sweep back angle of the gear, I cheated a little to make the angle about 1/3 less than scale. If I kept the original angle the wheel sits at a weird angle in the well and the gear door will also give angle hassles.

Controll surfaces completed, ready to cover.
The wingtips came out rather nice, cool eye-pleasing lines to it

I
molded all manner of scoops, lumps and bumps that go over the cannons ect. I also cast the exhaust stubs then to simulate the prominent weld bead it had I put some PVA glue on. The paint is alclad burnt iron.
Looking at the wing under the sealer it is almost a pity to have to pait over the nice wood

Joe that is why I have only one coat of primer on as it is so heavy. I filled the FG weave with dope and micro balloons, 3 coats only added 40 gr.

I dont have to tell anyone here about the riveting on the spitty's wing :-)
The flush rivestare cut in with a small tube in my dremmel and the dome head rivets are PVA glue blobs.

I completed the wing today, ready for paint, ailerons and flaps hindged.
The weight is 1560 gr as is, for a 1,85m wing not to heavy.

The ailerons and flaps are actuated via pushrods hidden inside the wing, no external controll horns, as per full size.. I cheated on the flaps and did not make the small flaps.

The ailerons also hindge like friese ailerons where the LE sticks out the bottom of the wing to lesten adverce yaw. a Real PITA to do but looks the part

I also made a carbon fork arm for the tail wheel. It will bolt onto a 5mm bolt into the rear fuselage.

That is impressive Theuns. Look forwards to seeing it in paint. And fly.

I got the colours mixed today. The scheme is "RAF Temperate Meditiranian" of dark earth and mid stone over Azure. This Azure is a very interesting colour as it is sky blue with a very defenate light purple tint to it, aparently in the Med that is what the sky looks like.

I started paintig it, primed all ready for colour the frame weighed 2995gr, I am interested to se how much weight the paint puts on, I am truing to paint light.

I am rather pleased with the scribing and the rivets, just enough to look OK without going overboard.

It will now be tricky to get a soft edge to the camo....View attachment 315600View attachment 315601View attachment 315602
