What was the purpose of the leading edge slats please?\ said:......................
I also cut and dropped the leading edge slats, as this happened when the undercarriage was down.
Thanks Mark, it's just stretched sprue.\ said:Stunning model Mike. What did you use for the aerial wire?
My feeble understanding is that the alter the lift coefficient of the wing, which reduces the stall speed, thus allowing the aircraft to fly much more slowly than say flaps alone.\ said:What was the purpose of the leading edge slats please?
What Ian said Steve. In basic terms slats extend (or are fixed) and increase a wing's camber, increasing lift, lowering stall speed and increasing drag, all enabling slow flight. If the slats leave a gap this is known as a slot, which re-energises boundary layer flow (air flow over the surface of the aerofoil) and effectively lowering the stall speed again.\ said:What was the purpose of the leading edge slats please?
