Thanks Chris I hope so too, however this arrived to cheer me up. Not even switched on yet.

Interesting……I’m no doctor, but it doesn’t sound a lot like flu. Of course, you could have caught something else at the vaccination centre. Four days sounds like an infection incubation time to me……..don’t rule out covid though. I was virtually getting better before I tested positive last time I had it……
 
WELL Garry now you will have some controll over the model looks good but dont foget to bind the T/X to the R/X

Well, I've been trying to get the motors up and running, but one of them was a growler, and after much messing around, that one has given up the ghost.
So it looks like it is time to buy a couple of decent motors and suitable ESC's.
The old one's were brushed Tamiya/Johnson 540J's, and an old 30amp ESC, so the question is whether to go with brushed again, or move on to brushless?
Suggestions and/or recommendations welcome, as I'm not sure, after much internet searching, what the best option would be. I've never used brushless so that would be a new experience for me.

WELL Garry let me just say brushless are the best bet BUT an there is a BUT i would have liked to have used them in my tiger BUT they are very exspensive if your prices are like ours in blighty

AN they are complex to rig them up an get them goin as my m8 richard is very good on eletronics an has guided me a few times but he bought two for his new ship an could not understand how to wire them up so he had to send them back to where he bought them an ask them to wire them up to the ESC an they then returned them to him

so in my opinion not for a newbie an i dont understand them either as i think they work on A/C current an not D/C current . as in the brushless motors there are not just a positive an negative like normal motors but there are 3 wires feeding the motors each an from their ESC but if you can find out how to get them goin they are the best bet.but for me give me the brushed motors as they are easy to wire up an i cant ask richard for you as he dont know either they are very comeplex BUT THATS my pennys worth on the suject unless you have a tame eletricion near you lol an ANY more pics

Interesting aside about motors there Chris. In my model railway days (1980s to early 2000s) brushless motors were king. However, they were all 12 volt DC and had two wires, exactly like the Hornby X04 style brushed motors they replaced. Most common makes were Mashima and Portescap. Very quiet and smooth, and extremely controllable, especially in the lower speed range. Not sure what they use these days though. DCC control may have changed all that.

Thanks for that insight Chris, I will do some further research.
No pics atm, been playing with the motors.

Just read through this thread - what an amazing build! So inspiring - there's a dedicated model boating lake near me, I must go along and check it out.
