1/72 HMS Iron Duke - Type 23 Frigate

You do know that actually happens don’t you Chris….periodically the earth’s magnetic field, generated by the nickel/iron core, reverses so South becomes North and North becomes South…..be a laugh when it happens next though, us Southern softies will become Northern softies….and Northerners will have to become Southerners….
well Tim it says on the news that it has now happened

Interesting……I know the next change is about 300,000 years overdue. It usually happens every half a million years or so. But when it does it usually takes around 10,000 years to stabilise….seems a bit quick this time!

WELL Tim it was sayin on my pc news this morn if it to be beleived
chrisb
Just had a good look around Chris, and I can’t find it. Plenty about the field weakening and the north pole moving, but that’s been going on for years…..what was the site?

just came up on the web news sayin scienctist say the core has stopped an now stating to go in revese
chrisb ps not april 1st yet is it ?

Actually, that’s a good point….I’ve no idea what happens to east and west…..I wonder if they swap or not? Not only that, I live in North Brewham, does that mean we have to swap names with South Brewham……the possibilities for confusion are endless…..

Great work Garry , looks very neat sitting there in the water. Your wood working skills are top rate .

STILL waiting for deliveries, man this is doing my head in.
I have managed to do a couple of small things in the interim just to keep the mojo going, which is becoming harder by the day.
I cut out some legs for the life raft containers, attached them and painted, as well as a start on the torpedo launchers. Also attempting to make the harpoon launcher tubes from wooden dowel, but the dowel is perhaps not the best material to use, and it all looks very rough, so I am trying to think of another type of rod to use. Unfortunately options are pretty limited down here at the bottom of the world, so I will try to just clean up the wood with filler.

The safety netting is in the same order that is on the slow boat lol
I'm nearly done on the tube covers for the seawolf missile silos, that took a lot of filling and sanding, multiple times, but getting there.
I have actually made a start on the breakwater already, but I'm taking my time, as it is all funny shapes, and the plans are not very good for those sort of bits.
I thought about the deck colour and wasn't sure what to do with it, but if I don't, it all sort of blends together and looks a bit boring, doesn't it. So I will no doubt do that.
Fortunately the heat wave here has now passed, and I am very grateful for that, it was mid 30's for a week, which we found debilitating. We even bought a kids blow-up paddling pool to cool off in, which worked a treat.
The mojo is still fine mate :thumb2:
Have you set Tigers launch day?

Well the breakwater and the seawolf missile silo covers are done, and I sprayed the deck in Vallejo Dark Sea Grey, which creates nice contrast, in time I want to weather everything for a more realistic look.
Now I'm looking at the cranes for the RIB's, and they look to be quite intricate, so lots of fun ahead.
