I picked this one up for £2 at Newark last week , nosing around in the bargain boxes under the club tables. When I saw the cute ( very 1960's/70's eastern european ) box art I was hooked! Imagine my surprise when I looked in the box to find a very crisply moulded (albeit yellow!) kit complete with nice decals . It also came with a red dustbin like pot which I imagine once upon a time had some glue in, its all dried up now!

Its a very simple kit of only 12 parts but the subject matter is simple too so its fine. It comes with a little stand but no pilot .I cant put it in flight empty so i got a 1/72 matchbox pilot out of the spares box and hes had a bit of plastic surgery to remove his goggles , helmet and lifejacket . He'll be painted like a civilian and bunged in the very narrow cockpit. Heres some pics , tony

This looks really good! Amazing find under a bench, and what a bargain too!

For an early tooling model, it actually looks quite clean on the sprues.

That glue pot needs keeping, will make a great dustbin in a diao! They must've had forward thinking these guys when they made the kit!

That's actually not a bad looking mould you've discovered Tony. Don't get lost in those vast instructions :)

Its a beautifully moulded kit Joe , all 11 pieces!! Seriously though its fantastic , a real mojo fixer , trouble is Ive now got a bit of glider fever and been looking on E-bay for more!!:eek:

Well heres the poor matchbox pilot after having his helmet and lifejacket / belts sanded off! Ive painted him to look like hes wearing jeans and a top and because the face detail wasnt up to much Ive given him a pair of sunglasses!!. I had to sand his shoulders again to get him to fit in the very narrow cockpit , which ive spruced up a bit by painting a few random details on the walls and IP , it should all look passable under the closed canopy (if you squint and dont look too long)

The next step in this very complicated build (11 pieces dont forget!) is the wings /elevators and canopy then its on to paint! I'm going to have to do the kit scheme of all over red with cream leading edges and some tricky masking of the flash on the sides . I would have liked to do it in white but the decal serials are in white too so ive no choice but to follow the kit scheme. cheers tony

Ha-ha he looks a cool dude!

I think you're letting your standards drop Tony - there's been no scratchbuilding or corrections to the kit so far! :P

Looking good Tony.

Fancy sanding his helmet off, no wonder he's wearing shades....Probably to hide the tears!

That looks superb Tony. You can get the Mucha glider in 1/48 too and there are other types with rounded rudder etc.

I found this if you're quick enough: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Revell-model-kit-Glider-Segelflugzeug-LS-8-t-engine-1-32-/281836570950?hash=item419ec4c946:g:rjsAAOSw9mFWIjTj

If you get it cheap enough you can have a play about. These kits are around £15 or so, a bit expensive to cut and faff with.

11 parts - 11. That's it. 11............
Well you know what our Tony's like Colin. He's a careful, skilled builder and I'm sure he'll be able to sort this out. My thoughts are with him during this difficult time.

Quite right Dave. Please excuse my flippant post. Tony will certainly need our support through this, most trying of builds. Even though I think he will have more sprue than actual parts - - - - - - doh, there I go again.........
