What craprack would be complete without the crapinit.......so here it is. Other details were painted in and we're close to getting decals on for the license plates and some glass in the windscreen. That should just about do it but for the final weathering with pastels and art pencils. Rick H.P1011277.JPGP1011279.JPGP1011280.JPGP1011282.JPG

As promised, here are some shots of my 3 different attempts to improve and enhance the Roco 1/87 SdKfz. 7 track assemblies.
first up was just a strip of styrene cut to resemble a track block. Second was a similar attempt but with "tooled edges to simulate
a little more detail. The third and final attempt is going to be "it" for now and the future....what do you think?P1011284.JPGP1011285.JPGP1011286.JPGP1011283.JPG

Thanks Lee and Neil, as soon as I get an opportunity to do the weathering on the halftrack and both van trailers I'll get it posted up in the completed soft skins section of the forum. Rick H.

Hi Rick
I missed this. Considering the starting point that is a great result. Very nice detailing especially at this scale. The work on the track is definitely worth the effort. After 20+ years it was due a makeover.

Thanks Jim, I wish Roco would do them over, it would save me hours of work and I think I could absorb the increase in cost. My only dilemma would be the dozen or so I have in the stash would still need upgrading. Best of all worlds would be for someone to produce an aftermarket upgrade for existing models.....Hmmmmmmmm.

Hi Jim, yes there is some. Not like the larger scales but in limited areas. They even have some turned brass barrels for some of the more popular tanks and AA guns. Also cast resin as well as etched brass detail kits for track assemblies and engine decks, side skirts etc....not exactly inexpensive but go a long way in improving the looks of some models.

Never done that sort of thing Simon. I would have to build a really clean Master to mould up. Might be worth looking into.......any suggestion as to where to start? Rick H.
