Hi all!

This is my first thread on Scale-Models so be nice to me! :)

Right... on Monday i'm going to start working on my first kit which is the lovely Snowspeeder vehicle from Empire Strikes Back; a brilliant vehicle i think which is hugely over looked by alot of SW fans.

I'll be putting a couple of pictures up as I progess, but before I start, i wanted to know which way round you all favour to do things; would you paint a kit first, or apply the transfers first and work around them?

Paint first and then apply the decals/transfers

Snowspeeders are cool as well :)

The snowspeeder is the small squat white one in empire, the one luke uses to shoot the tow line and trip the big at at walker. The one you're thinking of is the speeder bike, which is also cool, I wouldn't mind one.

Look forward to seeing this, there's not enough sci fi in modelling.

Definitely paint first then decal.

Hey Dean.

I've been a Star wars fan since 1977 but never built any of the stuff.

I'll watch this with interest.

Tony.

Snowspeeders are a god send to modellers. You can do some serious weathering on them as they fly so low to the ground (in theory)

Check out the beautiful one on this link

And dialogue in the movie suggests they're just adapting them to snow - it would be interesting to see a "landspeeder" conversion, with desert camo or something more sci-fi (blue sand?).

Not to hi jack the thread but if you want star wars kits, have a look on ebay.de. There are about 10 on there for every one you will find on ebay.co.uk!

Anyone fancy a Pod Racer?!!?

Ian M - my kit was off ebay :) but i'll defo check out the .de sites!

Brickie - yea there conversions of a vehicle called a T-47 i believe, used in the Star Wars universe as a sort of freight vehicle, the tow line they can shoot would have been used to move and haul containers or whatever... sorry i'm a massive SW geek :bounce:

starting my model on Monday so pictures to follow soon!

flounder_al; i love the link, paint job on that speeder reminds me of R2-D2! but yea i agree with the whethering. Even in the films the vehicles are beat to hell!

It's well worth a look, last time I looked there was 7 pages for just SW kits!
