Just wanted to share the Hinomaru wooden base I made for my 1/48 'George'. Nothing spectacular but I think it finishes off a model by adding a base of some kind

You have taken the simple base to the extreme! And I like it!!! It really sets the aircraft off, the Green against the red. Brilliant.

Mmmm.... You are a great drawer, isn't it? It's only a idea...but the number 17 like the plane and name painted in the base, perhaps looks nice?!

Thanks, guys. I can't claim it as my original idea, as I'd seen other modellers who had done similar, and so their bases inspired me to give it a try.

Thanks, Polux That's a good idea! I might want to use the base for other aircraft though, so I better leave it plain (no pun intended....lol).

that's really neat and tidy.

sort of gives a modern retro look to a historic model.
