Hi all just got back from taking my boss to Harrods to have her hair done.


I was parked at the side of the road in my usual parking place when a woman opposite opened her car door as a motorcyclist was riding past, nearly cut his leg off so (don't know much but I am a trained first aider or was 3 years ago) I spent ten mins with my fist in his groin to stop the bleeding till the ambulance arrived. It was gory but the worst thing was the female car driver was in hysterics the whole time, it may seem callous but I did my best to ingore her and reassure pete he was more concerned about her, I could quite happily gagged her if my hands wernt busy doing other things, I actually feel quite sick now I'm home. This all happened about 1:30 this afternoon.

As for the women, she may have been hysterical and upset but I would have told her to 'SHUT THE F UP!'


Take it easy mate and have a drink and try and chill-you did a good thing mate, many would just gawp.

I have a motorbike and sadly things like this happen way to often it's just people's ignorance of bikes in general. If the woman who opened the door had just bothered to to look in the mirror 1st.Lets hope your good work pays off and the biker makes a full recovery. I drive a bus all day and people often open doors and walk out in front of my bus so bikers don't really stand much of a chance when people can't even see a bus coming at them.

up till 2 yrs ago I rode bikes biggest 1300 kwak smallest Honda c50 my missus made me get rid of my last one 900 triumph trophy,i loved that bike best bike I ever owned, but, all the blokes I rode with who remained on bikes are dead or in wheel chairs, and most of those were the fault of the car drivers, so looking back I think my missus was right, pete was a young guy, I don't know his actual age but I would say 25-30 and he will probably have a good chance of a full recovery me at 58 I doubt it.

5* for saving the guys life, thats probably what you did.

Ken you are an amazing person and let me shake your hand. I'm a trained First Aider too and it's amazing what you think you know and what your capable of doing. The woman was hysterical yes but you kept your calm and did what came naturally


I hope you got a big thank you from the wife for what you did and possibly you'll get to know how the biker is.


I'm a retired biker myself at 47 but I had my fun times on the Hondas mainly but 2010 saw my last bike go 1000 Varedero. Traded her in for a 4 wheeled box ( not the same but like you I have seen too many bikers go and lost too many friends.

It's a good job you were on hand Ken it sounds like a nasty injury, some people can't cope with this sort of thing and just lose it or freeze , I don't know which one I am

Hi all just a quick update I phoned the police this morning a got a very helpful woman, I explained what happened and where yesterday and asked how he was she said she would find out and get back to me, well ten mins ago she did he had surgery and is recovering his wife wants my address so she and her daughter can thank me in person, as the doctors assured her I certainly saved his life(I hadn't even thought of the bigger picture of course he's got a mum and dad, probably grandparents, maybe brothers and sisters) the thought of all those people all wanting to thank me for doing such a little thing, makes me want to cry and embarrasses the he'll out of me I said tell her that I am just glad he's ok and appreciate the thanks but that's all I need.
