Just picked this up from our local toystore and it seems quite a nice kit, do you have any thoughts on academy kits?

Also being "strapped for cash" but loving the WW2 period aircraft what are the kits you'd consider a "must have" in 1/72 scale kits?

Lastly whats the best acrylic paint to use in an airbrush? my son does a lot of warhammer stuff so we have a few citadel and Vallejo paints i can borrow and the toystore has humbrols acrylics at £1-50 a pot.

thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

P.S if i've posted this in the wrong place then please accept my apologies :respect4:

Hi there,Academy do several 109 kits so I'm not sure which you've got. Generally they are decent kits to put together.

Vallejo paints airbrush very well. Normal advice about playing about with thinning and pressure to find what works for your set up apply :)

I don't use Citadel but someone familiar with them will chip in soon.

thanks stona, its the Bf 109g-6, says on the box it has engraved panel lines, highly detailed cockpit, optional open canopy so im hoping for a decent kit.

Not my scale but that is considered a good kit. Any cockpit detail in 1/72 is a bonus!

I don't think Academy do swastikas, let me know if you're stuck,I may well have some in my spares box.

Cheers

The Academy kits are lovely and go together well, i recently finished one of there 1/72 kits. There are plenty of nice kits out there at that scale, I too only model in 1/72.

I didnt think any kits did swastikas, this academy one certainly doesnt.

Can you buy them by the sheet? i plan on doing the various versions of all the WW2 aircraft so i'm going to need quite a few LOL

Hi Wayne. I have put your post under the general chat section. When you are ready to start your build, just opne a new tread in the under construction forum.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with that little project of yours.

I read the other day of a chap who is ONLY building one of each mk and variant of the Spitfire. He has come to the figure of 700 in total. He reckons on being done in about 20 years.....

So how many it could be with all the aircraft in WWII I would shudder to think.

Yes you can and you won't break the bank either.

Hannants - Plastic model kits and accessories

Some kits do include swastikas on their decal sheets but an awful lot don't.
