discussion After PE clamps?

Hi i plan to add the wiring for the headlights, horn etc on to the Stug.

I have lead wire but no clamps, does anybody know where to buy PE to replicate the clamps??

Bob,
I use thin foil from the tops of various pots in particular a well know tube crisp. These I then cut into the desired shape. They form easily around the cables. Then finish off with a punched nut/rivet as required. Hopefully you can see what I mean in the picture.

If you can pop a bottle of wine, you might be lucky to find thick but soft foil over the cork. That's good stuff.
Does Chinese take away still come in foil trays?
Failing that that lead wire flattens out very easy.....

Oh I forgot to say. A dead ball point pen makes a good rivet stamp. Even works on softened PE.

Yes mate fixed with CA. Give the foil a good wash in warm soapy water to get any oils from the contents off first.

I have a few punch sets that I use.

But I also use a piece of sprue stretched out to the size I want, then cut slivers off to use as nuts rivets etc.

Hi Bob, no worries I have a couple of different sets available from, https://www.scalemodelshop.co.uk/product/punch-and-die-set-rp-toolz-rp-pd . they are not cheap but If you want to go down the road of madness of added detail they are invaluable. As to the kitchen foil it may be ok if it is the thick stuff. Or if you have any yogurts in the fridge the foil off them is good. You may have to smooth them out a little but that is easily done with a smooth metal object eg a ruler. HTH mate

No worries mate that is what we are all here for. Some of the other guys may have their own techniques. If you have any PE at home then some of them actually have holes both round and hex around the outside of the sprue. You van make your own Nuts etc by softening plastic sprue and pressing it into the holes forming a small nut you can then cut off.

Scottie's route is the one for me. However if you are feeling lazy and rich Griffon do a great set of PE clamps that you can buy HERE

Following on from all the advice. I use thin pewter/lead sheet cut into the width I want, then roll the end of the length over a small brill bitand crimp it down with a pair of tweezers, then trim off the excess and c/a into place.
