discussion Airbrushing Camoflauge on Spitfire Wings

I was thinking about how to ensure clean paint lines on the leading and trainling edges on the wings. Then I saw this video, not the first on this, and they seem to spray away from the top then bottome and just mask the lines around the engine and fuselage. Ok, so this guy is very, very good and skilled at airbrushing. But for a first few times is this unmasked way to paint the top and bottom of wings usual ?

I recommend masking the camo and edges, will look much better for a first time :thumb2: .
You can use things like blu-tack for the camo and Tamiya tape on the edges

I'm relatively new to airbrushing and I'm still at the stage where I'm much happier to mask the underside rather than just using the panel edge to "mask" itself. Yes I've seen it done very effectively but I'm not ready yet.

Here's a picture of my recent Beaufighter with the bottom half masked

Thats what I've decided as well Andy after watching the video again and Steven's comment. I dont mind painting the underside sans tape but not the top. I'm reminded of the Mr Bean sketch where he paints his room
