I once went for a flight in a Tiger Moth. We followed the path that the Lancasters used to fly over Ladybower reservoir when practicing for the Dambusters Raid. Quite a surreal experience and what an amazing aircraft.

What I say next might sound like I am "bragging" or just full of "it".

I did my first 8 ours of PPL training on a DHC1 Chipmunk Mk10, a delight to fly and a docile plane, then I did some flying in a DH-82a and I was hugely dissapointed, mostly in my inability to fly the plane acurately!

The controlls were (flr me atleast) nit well harmonised, heavy and felt "sloppy".The gorunghandlikng was VERY heavy

I did enjoy the aeros in it though (as a pasenger) it was relatively "gentleman like"

I do admitt a "hoistoric" flightpath like you did , just enjoying the ride would be really cool :-)

Here is the DH-82's basic airframe completed . The undercart is finiky but do-able with some patience.

I glued the interplane struts to the wings using superglue instead of using cement. I was concerned that the ends of the struts ,being so thin might melt and become to short

Everything lined up nicely though.

Ive got one of these on order too theuns! Great start , I'll be watching closely for when I get mine. I dont think de Havilland ever made an aeroplane that wasnt good looking , from the DH4 right up to the Sea vixen and 108 Comet theyve all been beautifully proportioned and graceful (in fact Ive got a dh 89 dragon rapide on the go currently and thats a definite beaut) cheers tony

That's a nice looking Tiger already Theuns. The more I see the more I want one.

The filler you see on the fuse seams , is of my own stupidity.

I closed up the fuse only to realize I left the instrument panels out so I had to open it again.

I went for standard Humbrol trainer yellow allover on this , I just hope with the glosscoat I will not loose to much detail....

Then the pupil pilot lost directional controll when landing in cross wind training.Substantual damage was done to the right aileron, elevator and stab needing some fabric to be replaced.

Silver dope on, no time to paint yellow yet LOL
Haha! Great idea, actually works!

OK, so after the umteenth time batling with the rigging on this damn tiny DH-82 and every time messing it up further I finally chucked it in the trash! It is the 2nd 1/72 Biplane that has gotten the better of my with the rigging and no 8$ kit is worth my sanity LOL

Untill I get the propper drill bits for rigging I wil not attempt it again.

Ah well so we learn and move on :-)

No way! That looked great! You must be a perfectionist with no equal!

"You must be a perfectionist with no equal!"

No not atall, I just hate to be frustrated 3 times in a row with no way of getting the result I want and messing up the model every time!

It's just not worth the hassle

Building the airframe was a piece of pie, I did however TOTALLY over-estimate my poor rigging skills

Great looking model there. I love the colour. Rigging, yes such fun. I like to drill the holes first (before any construction starts) using the smallest drill in this set.

For 1:72 the hole is still a bit too big, but it's ok. And at this scale, I don't bother fitting rigging eyes, just CA straight into the hole.

I broke my 0.2mm bit and thought I could get away with just glueing the ez line to the structure.

It works OK on one end but as soon as it is tentioned and glued to the oposite side it just doesn't take.

I sometimes need to use a CA accelerator. I don't know why sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, atmospherics I guess.
