I've always liked the Dauntless from seeing The Battle of Midway at the cinema in 'Senserround'!

Good work drilling out the dive brakes John! How's the kit? Another Airfix 70s rebox?

I just completed this kit last week. You can my efforts in these links.

Sorry Rick I couldn't find your finished dauntless but your work in progress is great. My dauntless is gong to be very battle worn and hardly fit to fly hope I don't go ott with it though . I now exactly what you mean about the canopy it's just awful badly fitting etc. Patrick this is an old tool kit but to be honest went together quite well aside from the canopy flash and a few gaps but I did the best I could with it .i did rescribe the panel lines with my new tool from SMS a great purchase may I add and highly recommend it (shown in pic above) thanks lads for you comments and encouragement more pics to follow cheers john

Lovely build so far mate, i really have a soft spot for the Dauntless ;)

Keep up the good work :)

Looking good John. I haven't built one of these but do like the look of them. Maybe I should try one of these old Airfix kits again - memory lane.

Hi everyone here's my attempt at a beaten down Douglas Dauntless thick in the battle of Midway.I don't know why but I prefer the nice clean base as opposed to the dirty well used one just my preference. My weathering technique is not the best as I have only limited experience but without practice there will be no improvement.A few lessons learnt on this one.Anyways here it is and I appreciate all comments/help and advice thanks John . Great stuff John. Love the Dauntless, you turned it into a very nicely finished and displayed model on a very well done base. Great build!
