Just a grumble as I was about to start my hurricane undercarriage Bay and I found a problem I won't point it out
I will pop up two pictures and see if you spot the mistake.
Email has been sent but probably won't hear anything until Monday. IMG_20211030_163424.jpgIMG_20211030_163436.jpg

Bit of a short shot on the corner in the second one Peter. Let’s hope they fix it quickly.

I had a similar problem with my 1/24 Hurricane about six years ago. I made up the shortfall using plastic card:

It's easier not to do quality control and get the customer to return faulty items.

How hard would it be to assemble one of your own kits before releasing it to the market?.........or better yet just fill the box with plastic card and directions.....let the poor consumer figure it out! LOL :tongue-out3:

That’s a moulding issue, not a parts design issue Rick. It’s a short shot in the moulder.

Mind you, Dave had the same issue a few years ago, so it could be a mould design issue Rick LOL….

Quality control can throw up some odd errors. A few years ago I bought a self assembly bookcase. It was dead simple, just 4 shelves. In the box there were 2 left sides and 2 bags of fixings. On the paperwork was a sheet which said "Contents checked by ...." . The company apologised and sent out a new, correct bookcase and said I could keep the original. Maybe the checker had a lot on his mind that day :smiling:

It might well be that Tim, but shows no one checked. Normally in engineering you would have to get " first off checked " before any further work was done.
Maybe the new Hornby programme on TV might show things like this. Can't see that CEO letting things like this slide.

Trouble is John, they are probably moulded and packed in China so he will never see it. As we have seen two incidences here it may well happen each time they mould this…..

Oddly enough the first Airfix box I picked up, the 1/72 Supermarine Swift has 'Made in India' on the side, are larger models produced in China?, or has part production moved out there totally?
Dave

Not sure Dave, but I thought the last two new Airfix kits I made, Albion fueller and Gnat trainer, we’re both China moulds? I may well be wrong ;)

Always thought that they moved back from China to concentrate here.

This the guy to contact.

Lyndon Davies
CEO
Many of you know the history of Hornby, but I came from a different branch of the British toy industry, the Mettoy Company Ltd. I started my working life at the Swansea plant aged 16, it was located on the Fforestfach Industrial Estate and I was employed as a management trainee, a three-year programme, with studies in the evening at a local college. It was a very intensive course, I spent time in every part of the business – toolroom, sales, accounts, computers, all of the production process, injection moulding, die-casting, maintenance engineering, design, electrostatic painting, vacuum metallising, distribution – every aspect of the business. One week I would be out selling, the next driving a forklift truck, then setting a mould, refurbishing a mould, designing a mould, preparing accounts, counting out wages, launching new products – if the company did it – I did it.
Little did I know all these years later that I would be the CEO of Hornby and watch on with pride as our skilled designers bring dreams alive.

I'm sure he would like to know of problems.

In the last series they talked about India and China, I picked up the manufacturing was in India and the moulding in China, But, It could have been both.
Last year they had the same problems with 3d files turning into different items when manufactured, and they apparently haven't fixed that problem.
If you send a 3d model with 7 rivets and the manufacturer only makes it 5, where did the communication break down?
