This is one of only two models I have that are posed in flight. It's the old Airfix Draken, a fairly basic kit and apparently not particularly accurate, but it still looks like a Draken ;) It was re-scribed, and I made new decals for it. The base is a simple acrylic block with an old paintbrush handle set in a drilled hole, and then sprayed matt black.

U normally prefer older planes but I must admit I like that a lot! Never heard of a Draken before.

Sent from me to you

OO that's good I do like the drakken and the vigan Saab did make some very good looking aircraft and you've done that one proud :)

Wonderful work Mike. The paint work is awesome and the decals are well cool:cool:.

Mike your color modulation is outstanding and at 1/72 to boot! I'm amazed at how you've subtly varied the colors top and bottom without it being over done, just right it is ! Very nicely done Sir!

Superb work Mike. I would never have guessed it was the Airfix ancient kit. Nicely displayed and photographed again, your works are very inspirational.

Beautiful build of a beautiful 'plane! Does anyone make a decent version of this? The only ones I've come across all have problems with quality/accuracy.

Thanks Gern. Hasegawa make superb Draken kits in both 72 and 48 scale.

Ouch! Just checked and all the 1/48 kits are over £50 - to me, that's a lot of money at the moment.

I also checked some of the reviews of the Hasegawa kits. Strange that there are two points of view. One group of reviewers are saying the kits are easy and make excellent builds. The other group complains about ill-fitting parts and steps on some of the major joints. Maybe there are time issues with the moulds or something.

Anyway, I'll have to knock this on the head for now. I don't have either the purse or the skills to cope .....

Gern, Revell Germany have re boxed the 1/72 Hasegawa kit a couple of times (eg kit #04352) which is quite a bit cheaper than the Hasegawa boxing. Also Hasegawa have released dual boxings with 2 kits in a box for a reasonable cost.

This one takes me back. Even at a young age the shape really caught my eye. Great model Mike.
