Hi everyone, been way to busy this year to pick up anything or even carry on with some in build projects & really wanted to do something so grabbed this off the dust covered shelf earlier....

It does look rather nicely moulded, loads of detail and nice clear instructions to make one of two aircraft

So as usual, circumstances change & what should've been a quick build is going to be the opposite !

Started work on the cockpit last night, the tolerances on these new Airfix kits are very good, to the point some parts won't fit after being painted & need a quick scrape/file to slot back into place.

Im going to let cement dry on these bits then touch up a few areas that need stand may even try belts ( but don't hold me to that !)

Great progress Dave, looking really good.  Seat belts do make a difference so definitely have a go  :)

Ladies & Gentlemen, I need some advice please.

The comment above about tolerances being really good was just a trap obviously, the top part of the fuselage covering where the oil tank would be sits really proud - don't want to file it down because its

A, curved - so I'd probably miss shape the profile

B, quite detailed & it would loose that with cutting & filling

So I'm sort of thinking if I sand/file on the lower edges of the part (in third pic) and lower the height of it that way, thoughts?

PS the long fore/aft seam on the top needs to go doesn't it, on all the pictures Ive seen it looks smooth?

I agree. I would file the bottom of the part until it sinks into place. Just a bit at a time, test file, test again and again.
