Hi all another quickie.

Any recommendations for paint brand when looking to achieve that aluminium finished paint scheme on aircraft.

Airbrush application preferred

All the Best

Vallejo do a very good metal paint range, I use it all the time. John sells it in the site shop.

Warren,
Alclad II gives a superb metallic finish, but is tricky to apply, and it stinks! I can't hack that, so I've been using MiG Metal - you can get various metallics, Silver, Aluminium, Polished Metal...............
Like all metal finishes, you have to have a perfect surface to apply the paint - the slightest blemish will show up!

I’m with Ian , the Vallejo Metal Color range gives an excellent finish and doesn’t smell strongly , it’s also quite robust and doesnt come off with low tack masking tape like their model air metallic paints do. Cheers tony

For natural metal there are special types of ‘paint’ called metalisers. These need spraying onto a gloss black primer after very careful surface treatment to get rid of imperfections as they can really show up with a NMF.

Good metalisers include Alclad II as already mentioned. MRP have good metalisers as well. Remember to use more than one complimentary metallic shade to pick out panels to get a realistic finish.

Vallejo Aluminium is very good. But I've tried a few aluminium paints and the finished effect is, well, aluminium coloured. So a bit restrained but it's accurate....

I'm another Vallejo Metal Color paint user. I find it sprays well and it can also be brush painted on too. I'm just using it on the P-38 group build for a Natural Metal Finish aircraft. It looks great imho

One lesson, amongst many, is that as it's such a muted finish I have been putting too much on in the false assumption it will brighten the colour. It's aluminium Gary, its meant to be that way

Vellejo Metal Color has different 'shades' of aluminium. I've used their Aluminium, Dull Aluminium and Duraluminium. Each has a place to be used depending what finish you are after
