Hi guys. Back to pester you again.

I tried to do a bit of painting this morning but got very little paint from my A/B (H&S Ultra, 0.4mm needle set up, Tamiya paint thinned with MLT at around 20psi). Stripped the brush and found LOTS of residue paint from the last time it was used - I'll be having WORDS with grandson PJ later as he was the last to use it!

Got it all cleaned up and now the paint is flowing OK. Problem is I'm getting drops of paint on the top horn of my pinch tip which eventually fall off. Any ideas what's causing it? I've checked my needle and the pinch tip and I see no damage, and the spray pattern looks straight and central.

I had exactly the same issue with an Ultra 2024. Contacted H&S who acknowledged a few users had the same experience and they were working to develop a solution, they advised to buy their fineline tip and round cap which I did. Problem solved for me and easy to remove cap and spray and/or clean tip dry. HTH.

Could it possibly be the needle isn't sitting tight enough in the nozzle and excess paint is flowing past and gathering on the pinch tip ? I've had this before and ended up pushing the needle gently against the tip whilst screwing the locking screw up to hold it, making sure the needle is fully seated against the tip.
(hope that makes sense)

Sorted, but thanks for the suggestions guys. Turns out my nozzle has split allowing paint to bypass it and run along the inside of the pinch tip. Just got to check if I've got a 0.4mm setup or 0.45mm.
