Ok people, you know who you are...Front and centre!

I'm ex Royal Navy, joined at 16 in March 1989, I served 5 1/2 years.

I was aboard HMS Jupiter (F60).

1990, Part of Armilla Patrol Whiskey, we were in the Person Gulf when Iraq invaded Kuwait.

1992, part of STANAFORLANT (standard naval force atlantic).

HMS Andromeda we got redeployed to the Adriatic Sea to be a blocking force if required.

Other than little jollies here and there, that was my RN history.

Lee :)

i was just a part timer

4 years RAuxAF Regiment at Waddington and Scampton (our hanger was next door to the Arrows)

Take my hat off to you guys i tried but being colourblind they wouldn't have me I even said you were crying out for colourblind people in the war (apparently we can see through camouflage )but no said we start maneuvers with colour flares and if you can't tell which colour you won't know when or what to do, and to be honest I could not tell the difference of the coloured flares, but they could have used me for recce or something. Oh well they didn't now I'm too old and crumbly.

17 years RAF, 6 years in signals, then 11 years as aircraft engine fitter on Phantoms and Vulcans. Served at Wittering, Tangmere, Bahrain, Cottesmore, St Athan, Bruggen, Coningsby, Wattisham, Gutersloh and finally Abingdon. Loved every minute of it.

I joined the RAF aged 17 and a few months.Spent the best part of 13 years as an Airframe fitter on Phantoms.RAF Coningsby for 6 yrs, then RAF StAthan.Plus a 4 month tour down the Falklands a few weeks after the war had finished.Didnt see any action until I left the service and worked in Saudi for British Aerospace. Was at Dhahran for first Gulf War.Although the Saudi mud movers bombed places our squadrons ADV's didn't fire a shot!.Exciting time though.

Great respect to all those who served in the forces land sea and air top people but having done two weeks in the cubs when I was a small boy it soon became apparent that I didn't like orders and being told what to do and until very recently I was self employed all my working life but now I have a boss and I've managed 9 mths without telling him to stick his job but to be fair you are pretty much left to get on with the job unless of course you mess up so far I've managed to keep under the radar long may it continue

Now there's a bit of forces humour!.Say something like that to someone who's not served and 9 times out of ten they will get up set and come over all prescious!.The Piss Taking humour has stayed with me all these years.Surprised my nose is still straight!.

You are right there Dave I did a very short stint in the RAF Regiment reserves but had to leave as couldn't give the commitment it needed. The work I was doing at the time meant I couldn't make the weekly meets etc etc.

The humour side though goes back a lot further than that as my father was in the army and I guess the humour rubs off on the kids as well. Even now I can say things in a jokey way and those who have not been around the forces don't get it.
