I haven't come across that whilst I've been using them.
Perhaps a coat of clear varnish after applying the pen colour? I don't know really, just something that's come to mind whilst I'm typing.....

Anyone else had this problem, or can help Ken further?

Ken, if you can find Pilot or Uni Paint Markers, they're acrylic paint, and certainly don't bleed. You can get them with tips as fine as 0.8 mm.
