Just found this on Facebook http://www.warhistoryonline.com/war-articles/stop-press-barn-finds-sale-license-built-messerschmitt-109g.html http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/five-barn-find-messerschmitts-for-sale-after-45-years-i-1602622678 Why they ended up in Texas is a bit of a mystery.

wow what a great find, thank you so much for shearing with us,Vaughan, :D

mmmm i think i will keep my fingers of the keyboard, oh why would they do that,

I wonder why they are up for sale now. Maybe someone (Connie Edwards?) died and the estate wants to realise the potential value of these aircraft. I think the prices are a bit optimistic for Hispano Buchons from the 1950s.

There is a genuine Bf 109 E for sale at the moment, 67 hours flying since last full overhaul, but you'll need close to $4,000,000 for that one. Anyone fancy chipping in? :)

Cheers

Steve

Edit....apparently Mr Edwards is selling them off and is in the land of the living, which is a good thing :)

It seems there is more than just the Buchons. I really don't like them. I love the BoB movie but the Buchons posing as 109s really grind my gears. The other substitutions like the CASA 2.111s for He 111s or the rather obvious R/C Ju 87s don't bother me at all.

You could buy a flying Spitfire in 1968 for £6,000, nobody seemed to want them. That looks like a pretty good investment now, even allowing for inflation :)

Count me in for £20 (might buy me a rivet or 2)

Cheers

If you grabbed an appropriate engine and re-engineered the nose section one of these could pass for a pretty convincing later model Bf109. Bit pricey though. I think I'd rather have a P-40 or Hurricane than one of these though.

What we need steve is a couple of million quid and a time machine....Dial in for the end of the war and go shopping. come home and retire.

Ian iam with you on that one, or dial in during the war and hide little bits like tiger tanks and panzer ivs and the such I don't think the germans would notice one or two bits going missing.
