As per the title, can anyone suggest a colour/s that's as near as possible the green/blue of the IJN's N1K2s?

I'd like to stick with Vallejo if possible, but guess I could also use Tamiya acrylics for my airbrush. I usually mix my paints with water as I don't like the smell of thinners.

Cheers,

Alex, tamiya do IJN green in their range, i think its XF11. Dont be tempted to thin their paints with water though, it doesnt work very well, best to use their thinners. cheers tony

I have 2 IJN float planes and got XF11 green (topside) and XF12 grey (underside) for them, as per instructions.

I thin with surgical spirit and windscreen washer fluid with no adverse effects.

Thanks Tony and Stuart. The underside of the N1K2 will be natural metal, so hope Tamiya and Vallejo NMF don't react to one another.

BTW, Stuart, which floatplanes did you build? I'm a big IJN fan.

No problem Ajay.

I'm a fan of them too however I don't know much about them and I haven't built mine yet.... One of them is a M6A1 Seiran and the other is an N1K1 Kyofu (sp?) type 11, both Tamiya 1/48 and both look good going on the box contents.

I think I might do them as a side by side double build and make a small water dio to display them.

Any assistance you can offer on the subject would be much appreciated when I do get started if you're willing to share.

I'd be only to glad to help, Stuart.

I also have a M6A1 Seiran to build. I've collected a wealth of photos for my artwork, so original references shouldn't be a problem. :busted_blue:
