No sweat Chris........we're only human after all. Probably a good thing, if they actually fired that fast and you managed to get your Tiger's guns to shoot like that, the Coppers would be after you for having a "Floating" Machine Gun!! ;) Rick H.
HAHA Rick you gave me a good laugh on the "Floating" Machine Gun!! an i dont intend to get the guns to actully fire as i was told if you wanted to do anything like that you have to go a yrs exsplosive course dont know if true but in this country well an id need a funny ole insurance as ive seen poeple do it but very exspensive as at one show on sheringham pond a chap had a lovely destroyer an he towed deternators behind the ship on 20ft long wires an to try an sink the sub in the show an talk about a hell of a bang an the water went 10ft in the air but it was great but i hav'nt seen him now for a long time as this was in the late 80 's but all good fun

AN HI again Paul many thanks for the pics an info very kind of you an now it gives me more info on the turret an guns an i think why they dint work very well was due to the fact that in the early 50's these automatic guns were in the exsperiemental stages as the ship was nr to 20 yrs in build time so ive been told but when i get to the gun buildin stage it wont be as complex as the top pic lol. All i want to do if i can is make the turrets travase left an right an the guns elevate an the they hit a knock on switch which wil start the yellow leds in the gun barrels to flash like gun fire an hopefully a gunfire sound unit fitted in an to do this i exspect i'll have had enough by then an then carry on fittin all the other things like life raft containers an railings wow what have i taken on here but im enjoyin doin it so far
ATB Paul an cheers

Just seen all your 'together' pictures Chris. Wow! Your vision and execution of this build puts the sticking of pre-formed bits of plastic together well and truly in the shade....

HI Nick thank you an glad you like the build so far an yes she looks a bit impressive when she is all put togeather as this is the first time ive put it all together an i was a bit shocked at her size as the plans dont really do her justice so enjoy the pics as she wont be put togeather like this again for maybe another 2yrs
cheers for stoppin an havin a look see at my build of hms tiger
ATB Chris

I can't believe that it's such a long build - another 2 years, before it's together again :surprised:

HI Gerry yes its gona be a long build im afraid as what you have seen so far when she was altogeather is only about half way an theres all the other bits of superstruckure an all the railings to be fitted about 400 or so an then there all the eletrics to fit an get working an at the moment ive only the vaugeust idea what eletrics i'll need an yes these R/C ships do take yrs as my nimitz aircraft carrier was a 7 yr build an this tiger is more complex so im in for the long run
cheers

When this thing is clearer, I'd love to pop up to see these floaty boaty things actually sailing (local ponds wouldn't take anything that sort of size - don't think they'd be able to turn round!)

WELL Gerry i sail either at norwich eaton park but mainly at sheringham boating pond as there its easy to park my car right up to the pond edge an its a concrete pond made for model boats an you would be welcome to see her sail but sometimes when i take norfolk up there its a job with the holl makers as they like to ask questions an some times i hardly get a chance to sail as i dont like to be rude to them an ignore them

Only two in this area are Woodbridge and Aldeburgh (have taken our sons and grandson to both with their 'boats' to them) - Woodbridge has a model sailing club, but it's only maybe 20 feet wide, Aldeburgh is slightly bigger, but not by much.

HI AGAIN Jerry well eaton park pond is the home of nowich model boat club an the pond is concrete an about 600 ft long by about 60ft wide an if you click on the web for said club it will show you pics of the pond an the big club house an ive been a member on an off anif you look at the club online in the navy section you can see my BIG nr 9ft USS NIMITZ CVN 68 sailing on the pond with other carrier an there is also pics of it on its stand on a show table an loads of other boats as well an sheringham is smaller only about 200 ft long by 40 ft but thats where i sail mostly as i said easy to get car there

Think that when we can, we'll have to make a day of it to come up - though the boats that we got the boys when they were small are just 'point and sail' (I do have the downloaded plans for a sail catamaran, and thought that was big - at a mere metre long!)

G/M Jerry yes it would be nice to see you if you come to sherigham pond as norwich pond is the biggest but the council have been awkward an put double yellow lines around where we used to park up so sheri is the pond i will be useing as the rd goes right up to the pond an you can park your car right nr the pond edge

an its right on the cliff top nr the golf coures an lovely when warm wheather but to park you must get there in the morning as when all the holliday makers come i have a job to find a space as the car park holds a lot of cars but soon fills up an when im sailing i wont be able to talk to you as ive got to keep an eye on the ship

as yesterday a freind who has got a 1/96 scale tiger a bit smaller than mine an he told me yesterday that a person distractaked him WHEN HE WAS SAILING an his ship went under a concreate overhang an it took off all his masts an funnels oh what a shame an he sick so concentraiting on the ship is a must as when i had my big nimitz on the pond she ran down about 5 small yachts an rammed one sub so lookin at what the ship is doin is a must but its a lovely area an you have cliff tops walks an such for those who like to keep fit an be nice to meet you BUT SAILING IS THE SPUR OF THE MOMENT THING AS ITS GOT TO BE NICE WARM WHEATHER
ALL BEST TO YOU

AN Jerry a metre long catermarang is big when it comes to carrying it an there are others up the pond at times that have the same lenght boats like fishing trawlers' mtb' fast small eletric boats an big yachts at times it can get a bit hectic so being small is ok but thats why i have to keep an eye on who what an where they are

Guess stopping and turning those big models must be a 5 minutes notice in advance job!
WELL Jerry its like when you are driveing a car everything has got to be thought through a quick as possible an yes some times i can turn the model quickly but must always think an look to whats where you are turning to in case a small boat is in the way an with tiger i have no idea at the moment on how she will turn an the turning circle as with my big nimitz carrier i fitted on her 4 rudders the biggest they do in brass as the real ship has only two rudders but fearing the worst on turning i fitted the 4 ruders as i said an it was still a 20ft turning circle an yes it took about 20 ft to stop her with motors hard astern as this was a very heavy model an with her batts in it took 3 people to lift her WITH BATTS IN but i could not with my back injury but there was never any shortage of volenteers as the people there could not wait to get there hands on it an several times i had to say please be carefull where you lift her as some bits were very fragie an soon broke off if not carefull an pic below of my nimitz 4 rudders carrier build45.jpg
