Boatmans Super Tomcat F14D Build

Thread owner
I thought being retired I’d have all the time in the world!! Ha!!
I just grab opportunities as they appear. I certainly can’t plan bench time. However, that does mean I actually enjoy those times sitting with a file or glue pot!! Especially if there is a cup of something as well.
Keep up the good wok Chris.

HI GUYS well spent a few hrs at the bench today or should i say on the floor dealin with the carpet monster Aaaarrrccchhhhh as i knew it would happen as i put a tin lid on my bench so if i drop any parts an yes i did an it bounced right out of the tin lid onto the floor an the part i knew i lose was that tiny 3mm clear tranparient glass part that fit over the front red anti collishion light on the port tail vertical

OH BOY so not to be beaten i was on my hands an knees crawling around where i think it landed an no joy so then i had a brain wave dont happen often lol i grabbed the two inch wide clear selotape an after an hr or so i went around on the carpet stickin it down an then liftin it up to look to see if i had caught it but NO IT seemed like he carpet monster was laughin at me

an i was about ready to give up when holdin the tape in my hand an i overbalanced sittin on the floor an goin backwards i put my hands out to save myselve an when i got up what was stuck to the bl**dy tape yes you geussed it the glass light what a stroke of luck OH WOW was i happy an now its stuck to that tail top an it was very difficult to hold an makes me wonder how barry an james did theirs ?
AN NOW some pics of the little blighter an lights goin IMG_8825.JPGIMG_8826.JPGIMG_8827.JPG

Chris,
Outstanding mate, as Jakko said great skills cutting the channels for the wires and the result is very effective.

The lights look great Chris. And what a stroke of luck finding that transparent part!
The Tomcat will be very impressive once complete with all the lights working.

Looking good

HI Paul thanks an yes it was as who would have thought fallen onto sumit to find the part i lost may do the lottery lol butim glad that it turned up to make the tail look proper as would have been very hard to make it an yes i hope the plane will look good but i think this will be a slow build as im tryin to remember how i used to do things on my old planes from 20 odd yrs ago but i think im gettin there an i now wish at times that i an jen had bought different aircraft as ive got both my big kits in 1/48th scale with lights but never mind onward an up
HOPE you are well Paul

Chris, it seems your hand landed right on the carpet monster's stomach and he had to spit his prey out! :tongue-out3:
Great work with those lights.

Just had a good catch up while munching on a couple of your excellent Marmite sannies. The wing lights look great. Very fiddly. So glad the carpet monster didn't get to keep your clear part. A lucky slip to find it. That channel in the tail is a real credit to your patience - well done. Lighting a model certainly looks great but is a lot of work.

AN HI ALL well today started on that other tail vertical which i thought would be a lot easyier than the first one well boy was i wrong as it took me all day to bure out the channell for that flashin rec A/C light an i now feel shattered after concentratin to hard but got it done an this bure treid to keep smaller so not to much filler an first pic of the awkward burein i had to do as the led sits on the tail top an not on the back of the tail anyway some more pics what i have done today an it looks a bit rough burein but when wires are fitted in an the i will pour some super glue in to fill the gaps an it will settle like water an go hard then i can gently sand it down IMG_8828.JPGIMG_8829.JPG

AN The red flashin led an all wires fitted in place in the tail plane but was not easy but hopefully the worst ones are done IMG_8830.JPGIMG_8831.JPGIMG_8832.JPG
