Cheers Gavin. :)

I thought the extra investment was worth it, I'm still going to use some of the kit ammo but the metal stuff is nice.

This is now turning into quite a big project. I'd originally intended a simple base, that then turned into a bit more of a diorama, and I've now ordered a M38A1 Jeep to go with it.

Hi Bob
Impressed with the kit and the neat way you have put it together. The detail is excellent. I like the brass ammo and the figures are very nice. I look forward to the dio and the jeep.

Cheers Jim. :)

Still got another 6 figures to go, and figure painting isn't my strong point.

I can't imagine what you paid for the barrel & rounds but it was well worth it. Can't beat lands & grooves. A nice match to a very tidy build. PaulE

I don't think it was a huge amount Paul, about £20 from memory. John ordered it in for me.

Some lovely details in this kit and your doing a cracking job on it and the figures will look superb

For a Korean War diorama, or a peacetime late 1950s firing range scenario? The M38A1 wasn’t used in Korea to any real degree, if at all, I think, and though the M38 (pre-A1) was in small numbers, it’s visibly different from the M38A1, looking like a cross between the Willys Jeep of the Second World War and the M38A1.

Yeah, a wartime dio/base. From what I read some made it to Korea, quite honestly I'm not too bothered with a 100% accuracy, I just want to build something that looks cool and has a jeep in it. :)

On that note, the figures are now done, and the Box 'o Bits™ is pretty full, so I think it's time to slap some paint on.

Cheers John. :smiling3:

I spent the extra dosh on the add on metal barrel which came with turned brass shells, so I can't take the credit for that one.

I built the Tamiya SU-76m last year, it was a lovely kit. There's a thread of mine on it somewhere around here.
Thanks Bob...... I shall go forth and scout for it, picking up some tips I hope.:thumb2::smiling2:
John.

Bob,
Caught up again and impressed with the model/figures, will check in again when there is paint on.
Cheers, Mike.

Lots of bits and bobs to get the wet stuff on. Good luck putting matchsticks up that lot!:smiling5:

Cheers Steve. :)

I actually spent a few hours today getting everything wiped down with IPA and mounted for painting.

Most of it is stuck on masking tape, I'll paint one side then flip it over and do the other side. The figures though have had holes drilled and pins CA'd in to give me something to hold for painting. I have a couple of champagne corks for this very purpose.

I also decided to drill out the lenses on the tiny binoculars so that I can blob some clear glue in after painting to make lenses.

Got some primer down today, will carry on tomorrow as it's now beer time.

Looking really really good.
The figures are very nice too, especially for Tamiya. Typical summer wear with shirts hanging out. Hope they do the crew as a separate set.
Jon.

Ya, I like the figures from Tamiya too, and hope they'll produce it as a separate set.

Production line looks good Bob. :thumb2:

Cheers,
Richard

Spent the weekend and this evening getting everything primed, so hopefully tomorrow I can start on the top coat. Be prepared for a LOT of green. :)
