Very intricate looking parts Brian. It all seems to be coming together very nicely indeed
The scorched edges are par for the course with laser cutting thin wood unfortunately.
Conventional CNC machining would in this case need to use a router. But even a small rotary bit would leave quite large tabs at all the cut out points that would necessitate quite a lot of filing down and cleaning up by the model maker compared with the tiny tabs that a laser cutter enables to cut through simply with a craft knife, leaving almost negligible clean up afterwards.
