Nato black should be fine paul , the invasion stripes were a temporary finish anyway so probably the paint would have worn / faded pretty quickly. The off black of Nato black should be bang on.

unfortunatly its Meng paint and i think its way too light

So, you'd be completely justified in hand painting them - 'it's SUPPOSED to look scrappy!’
I like the way the edges of the codes and roundel in your spit pic are roughed up too

Hi Paul
That has gone together very well and quickly "Running out of black" :rolling: - ain't that always the way. If you didn't need black you'd have bottles of the stuff!

Like we were saying about the stripes - they're never really straight.
Masking? Use a wide brush
Scrappy edges? I say just go with it!
But that's just me
Cos I'm lazy

Great stuff. Apparently the Beau was a pig to fly, but the airframe shape looks fantastic, especially when painted and decalled as well as this one.

Yup
Another of those minor details I like with the new Airfix is the separate clear pieces for the nav and landing lights, especially obvious on the Beau wingtip
