4th!!! Crikey what you doing with them?Thing is, I really don't care what version of windows you or anybody else uses or what android thingy you've got on your 'better' phone. Good for you if you like it. Apple suits millions of people so we use it. The thing with haters is they're so shouty about how terrible Apple products are and how ridiculously uninformed the millions of people who purchase them are, it all starts to come across a bit undignified.
I don't use android, and I don't shout, nor do I bleat on about how perfect something is when it clearly has as many downsides as any other device, with my work I see how many perfect phones come back each week and how many times people blindly choose them because their friends have them. Glad new figures published show that the fashion icon is no longer the worlds top selling phone, though to be fair I wouldn't touch the top one with a barge pole :)

See that's sort of my point Ade! Without knowing me you have assumed that I am a sheep. Incapable of making up my own mind about what suits my needs. An assumption based on your own extreme hatred of a chunk of plastic metal and glass and all that it represents.!!!

Don't suppose you've got your hands on the new 6+ yet? Any chance of an unbiased review? :)

I have friends who swear by Apple but I have always run Windows machines and resisted Apple simply because I am unsure about compatability with the software I use. I do hate MS Windows though. I have Win 7 in the office which is fine but my dad is lumbered with Win 8 a truly awful operating system.

I have also resisted iPhones and have been a Blackberry fan for many, many years. Until I got my Z10 that is, 18 months I have had it and really do not like the phone, a terrible product , so I am cancelling my contract early at a cost of £150 and, guess what, I have finally been drawn into an Apple product and now await the delivery if a iphone 6 plus.... they get you in the end.

Good on you Barry a man with sense, Ade I've had iPhones from day one and have never been disappointed. I missed out millennium because it was a bit of a non event. I think you'll find that despite having an i7 processor, which your pc needs to try and keep up, it's still lagging behind. You have to remember that for every process that my iMac preforms yours requires 2. It's also worth noting that it's also down to the architecture of the os that is important.

Well you all get it wrong. We're not the Apple 'haters', but haters of their practices. Their lies about their products. Their constant accusations of different companies that they steal from Apple (whole world takes those sues down all courts but Americans), their constant lies about how innovative they are (when they are at least a year behind the competitors), how many things they've engineered (where they actually took it from other devices). And what annoys me the most is that they treat their customers like a bunch of idiots (charging $200 for something that costs $75, like memory etc, telling that poor signal is the customers fault, that you'll never need a phone with a big screen, and then when they see people want it, they change their mind and lot lot more). Apple simply slows down the market by lowering people expectations.

umm sounds like you are an 'Apple hater'. A year behind? don't you mean a year ahead.

Hehe, come on Bart, if I cared about any of those things I'd be in an honorable profession, lawyer, politician something important you know;). As it happens I'm just a very happy consumer. Just a quick question though, who developed the tablet a year before Apple???

Seriously though, where do you buy Apple products for $200? I pay loads more than that!

@Vaughan: a year behind if not two. I can mention a lot of things but have no time for it just now so just a couple I have in mind. Big screen, notification bar, nfc, multitasking. All that was on the market before Apple discovered it..

@Wendall: glad you asked. 2002 :

  • Microsoft releases the Microsoft Tablet PC, designed and built by HP.
:)

Oh! Sorry Bart I stand corrected. Must've been a hell of a piece of kit! How much market share did it get in the 8 years it had before the iPad was released?

If I were Microsoft I would probably add that to my pile of epic fails along with Vista and Windows 8 and a couple of dodgy phones. Marketing a concept is after all as important as the concept itself. But well done to them for having the idea first:).

Lets face it Apple will always be up there in technology, innovation and marketing and remember Microsoft also have to put their os in a third party computer which invariably involves a tower lots of leads oh and then a monitor.

I see, Apple never fails at anything,,,,

Antennagate 2010, there excuse, its the way the consumer holds their phone.

Apple III and IIc, epic fails with overheating circuit boards and chips popping out of the boards. The IIc was supposed to be a carry round model but at 3.5kg , really??

Lisa, a mere $10,000 on release in 1984, was cut to half that price in 1986 with failing sales

Lets not forget the hockey puck mouse, form over function, lol

Ahh Newton, let us delve into your history, unreliable hand writing recognition, its claim to fame been mocked on the Simpsons :)

Copeland, completely failed to meet any deadlines

eWorld? maybe not,

Pippin, Apples foray into mainstream gaming,,, $600 a pop, fail!

Powerbooks,, talk about worn cables and cracked screens due to hinge problems.

At the end of the day we can all sit here trading pro's and cons to each cause, me, I'm bored now and will go do what I do whilst you do what you do :)

Adrian

Awww Ade! I was having fun then! OK, I'm off to light a candle at my shrine to Steve Jobs ;)

Well to think this all started with a bug threat to Apple. I wonder who started slagging off Apple first hey Ade and the need to protect Microsoft. There's always going to be room for Apple and Microsoft, in the end you make your choices. Hopefully Windows 10 will sort things out despite the backwards step to that start button.

I bet Steve's glad he started this thread! :P

I enjoyed reading it on my cheapo Android phone :)

Personally, speaking as a bit of a dunce with technology, I think it's amazing that we have the ability to do so many things in a small device, irrespective of who makes it.

I remember years ago, how people laughed when I said that before long we'd all have little screen devices like in The Next Generation ....

Lot of folks would use exactly this message if you replaced all instances of the word "Apple" with the word "Windows"! :D

" we never get viruses or bugs"
That's a myth, I've had Mac's for years and have never had a virus, that's not because you can't infect a Mac, it's because there aren't many virus around because most are wrote to affect Windows machines.

I have a PC at work and it's a lot more unstable than any of my Macs
