BVP M80A - ex Yugoslav IFV in 1/35 scale

Thread owner
Some details that i picked up from garage.... the only part from soviet BMP in 1/35 that can be applied on BVP M80 (M80A) are these small position lights. Nothing else. In reality probably not even that.

Just on first look there is similarity ....

More very good research :)

Something you might be able to answer: I noticed that the headlights of the M-80 look very similar to those on American M113s. Are they the same, or do they just look like they are?

Oh, yeah, and I found this photo in The Balkans on Fire, which could have saved you a lot of work:

I am not sure about lights, they are Yugoslav produced, but if they are copy of american, and how same or simmilar they are - i dont know. Thnx on comments ;)

Edit: i looked lights on M113, lights are similar, but, on M113 back is parabolic, and on M80 back is conical.

Aha, I only really noticed the front side in photographs so I couldn’t tell the back is different. I suppose there’s only so many ways you can make a headlight for an AFV :)

:) just one way - way of correct 3d virtual model

That looks very good. How did you make it? The old-fashioned way from plastic card, strip etc. or 3D-printed as well?

On page 1, there is picture (with experimental part, there for real is another one) of finished plate on cnc router machine. I bought machine last month. Windows are 3d printed from transparent resin. And "rubber" sheet is from thin aluminium.

That explains the use of the CNC machine … not something most of us would consider for modelling, I suppose :)

Sack on right side of turret 3d modeled. Now to make one 3d printed. Fine details are oversized because 3d print will eat them on right size and oblique (''Mouth'' and ''Ears'' of sack).
