Campari - That old drink from the 70's

Cocktail night completed. The jungle bird wasn't to bad. Although it had more dark rum than Campari in it.

Colin, you want a personal recommendation? My favourite cocktail by a country mile is a negroni - equal parts gin, sweet vermouth and campari. Serve it with a slice of orange, on the rocks - it's superb.

Then again, I do like a cocktail or two - here's my drinks cabinet.

Fear not Paul, I've still got plenty of Campari left. The Negroni might be next on the list.

Tut tut! Just look at all that storage space you could use for models!

They'd look much better than the hangovers you're gonna get from drinking that lot! :smiling3:

Speaking of, I have a vague memory of 'orrible Negrony hangover. Possibly as a result of a "...hold my beer...." moment.

I don't get hangovers any more - I'm too old for them!

We just have a single, top notch cocktail in the evening, and leave it at that. If you make them good and strong you get a real whoosh! from the kick of alcohol, feel a bit silly and giggly, and that's it! A second one would only be a let-down!

(That one in the picture is called a Closing Argument - equal parts lime juice, mezcal, green Chartreuse and maraschino - it's a belter!)

Been on the wagon since early 80s due to over sampling while mixing a "Skip and Go Naked" punch. Now only an occasional glass of wine w/meal.
