I am constructing a Revel T28B Trojan, kit number 05726-0389.

I have come to step 15, and am stuck as to what the symbol in red means?

Looks like it just means fill the holes in on the particular version of the aircraft you're making, I would assume they use the same sprue for other versions and some have them.

what would you recommend to file it?

I'd wait until someone confirms 100% that I'm right first ... I'm not really an aircraft guy.

As for filling, there's plenty of options and everyone has their own way.

Proprietary fillers (check on the forum shop for types)

Poly filler

Builders caulk

Silicon

Plastecine

You could even sand them down flat and glue on a bit of plastic card to cover.

Bit difficult to see as the clip is so small.

On average the instructions have a little section which explains what you should do when meeting one of these graphic instructions. Possible you may be able to find why by offering the piece up the where it will finally rest. Not to actually fit it incase it is one of those that clicks in for ever.

It's to fill the hole.Some T-28B's had this perferation in their air/dive brakes blank, why this should be I don't know (perhaps its to do with the hydraulic ram) but there are certainly two types of brake fitted to the T-28.As Colin says to fill you have a few options If you can try getting a model filler such as Milliput you will end up needing it on future models.Another alternative which I would probably use myself but does require care is to put a small drop of super glue in the depression wait about 30-45 mins no more then sand flat.If you are careful you might not even have to sand.If you wait too long the glue will become hard and difficult to work.If you want to speed up the setting time and also if filling larger gaps sprinkle some talcum powder on the glue it quickens the setting time (your model will also smell nice) by the way I am not joking about the talcum powder with super glue it's an excellent filler.

Alternatively,if your not worried about the model being totally accurate you could just leave it as it is.With the Model sitting on its undercarriage it's not going to be seen anyway.

I'm pretty sure that is fill or scrape, but as said - it should give you a guide to symbology at the beginning
