Got it sorted at last

Was going to do the cargo version but this had more appeal when i saw it.

Am aiming to do it in black, green and sand camo and will display it doors/bonnet/boot open so the interior is visible, to which i will add some scratch built bits and other items.

Here's the box/sprue shots with the wood base that Polux has requested it to be displayed on.

The interior is a little sparse, it just has basic seats and controls but i think i'll be able to improve it a bit.

Well i had a look at this properly today and there's a bit more work involved than i thought to display it as i want to (i.e. doors/bonnet open etc)

The engine only has the lower part in the kit as thats all to see if you look at the bottom of the built model ... so it'll be t'intergoogle to find picture of what the top end looks like.

The side doors are molded in one piece so i'm going to have to cut the doors out and then scratch the frame work for the chassis.

The interior is quite sparse but as it's a military vehicle thats expected, there seems to be just a couple of levers and braces to be added.

All in all it's a good job we've got 6 months to do it

That'll be two of us on a slippery path then

Made a start on this.

Got the chassis made up and have painted the floor pan in its base colour, then will weather it so i don't have to work around the chassis when it's glued in place as you see from the dry fit in the last picture.

The chassis will be flat black as per from the assembly line weather-proofing, the reference piccies i have for the camo pattern i'm attempting show no extra paintwork to match the body.

One thing i have noticed is my destructions tell me to put the front anti-roll bar t'other way up from what Graham has his, but cant find a real image at the mo to confirm.

It seems i'm going to have to build most of the body up so i can get an idea how much room i've got to scratch the engine. found a picture of the V8 to reference and it's pretty much a plastic cover with some bottles, pipes etc so not too hard. i'll be adding cables and a few pipes to increase the detail. The air pipe will have to be routed all around the engine to the snorkle base on the model.

Got a bit done on this this afternoon.

weathered the underside, fitted fuel tank(?) then added the sides and inner wings.

Painted the chassis and only weathered it to be muddy as it's a newish vehicle.

I hope I'm not to late, but that motor, looks like it might be from a Hummer, the civilian car, not a Humvee, the Army one. The military one is a bit more robust.

No you're not too late mate

The site that i found that picture on said that that " H3T - Alpha" engine was fitted to military and civilian vehicles.

However the link you provided lead me to find this .... much more like what you'd expect for an army engine .... a bit more work needed to scratch it up, but it'll look much better eh?

after a few hours surviving the apparent ice-age conditions (i.e. nipping to shops and playing snowballs with the dog) i got to the bench

weathered the interior a bit as a start before adding all the interior.

Spent half hour or so separating the doors, picture shows before and after.

Got the seats covered in laggers tape to give a bit of texture, painted them up and stuck them in position.

as the bonnet is going to be open i've had to stick the lifting rings on the chassis as they would be in reality and not just glued to the underside of the bonnet in the case of the model.

added the windscreen and cut away the mounting for the snorkle that was moulded in the bonnet and fitted in position. there's enough room under it to fit the hose i'm scratching up with the engine.

Had an afternoon trying to create seatbelts, this is the end result. research indicated that the early models had no passenger restraint then they added three point belts in the front and lap belts in the rear which is the era i'm going for (just coz it looks ok really )

Also took some wires from the back of the radio through the bulkhesd under the dash for connecting later to some engine electrics, and added the side struts so the belts attach on the inside and the rear door hinges have an external fitting point.
