The completed Diorama!

This has been a Looooong build, from the beginning of May up to now, but moving house in the middle is a pretty good excuse I think

This is my first AFV since coming back from 30 years in the non-modelling wilderness and its been a lot of fun, very messy, a bit frustrating at times but ultimately very rewarding. I've learned a lot more modelling tricks and I'm very satisfied with the end result.

Real nice work on both the tank is to notch the figures look great as well alot of detail on the face goes a Long way and the base real nice like has been said before the work on the cliff face is cracking spud sit pride of place on anybody's collection Keep it up John

what did you use for the cliff? brilliant build

Thanks guys. The main component of the cliff face is a plaster cast from the Bachmann range, in fact this one: Layered Rock BCWC1241 If you look carefully, you'll see that I've turned it upside down from the example on that page, plus I've added a selection of smaller cast rock segments - you can see some of them being prepared in the build thread linked above, plus there is some extra plaster to fill in the gaps that was carved once dried to show more angular shapes to fit in with the rest of the rock formation.

Then there is a layer of claycrete over the top level it out to make the surface for the grass, which was extended down toward the landslide to represent the dipping down of the rock strata under the cliff which then allows earth and smaller rocks to accumulate which then formed the landslide when saturated with rain water. Knowing Geology helps in working out how landscapes are formed and operate and I really enjoy making these bases. I was originally going to add a tree to the top of the cliff, but in the end thought it would be TOO much and also a bit risky seeing as what happened when I made the tree for the Tilly diorama!

Very, very nice Andrew. one excellent diorama. I particularily like the earth in front of the 'dozer blade. It looks just what it is supposed to be...Freshly moved earth and stones.

Cracking work Andrew, i just love the Chally weather it's the Mk1 or two. The dio is bang on too top marks for that, five stars bud.
