discussion coloured tubing

hi guys,

ive looked everywhere and cant find a company (except for Australia) who can supply bright green coloured tubing. this is to replace the standard black vinyl tubing that comes with the Tamiya kits to emulate hoses and throttle cables etc.

The only places ive found that stock this type of tube are fishing supplies shops but theyre all either 'natural' colours or flourescent.

I want to replicate the clutch and brake fluid hoses on the original bikes..

Any ideas? If theyre available from model shops (not that i can find them), ive a feeling that they will be stupidly expensive.\

find an old usb cable. there's a green wire in that that's thin enough (plus other colours).

for translucent stuff you could try medical supplies or fine pneumatic hose.

its the translucent stuff i need. ive literally searched EVERY single entry on around 30 google pages..if i see ESP carp fishing tubing one more time!!!

ive looked on the medical supplies sites but theres no coloured items on there...

okay then. get yourself some clear carp stuff and mix up some oil paint in a reasonably thick solution of thinners. soak it for a few days and the paint will stain the tube.

this is how I get my colours for synthetic brush bristles that I use for grasses etc.

man this is doing my head in.

ive searched EVERYWHERE for this stuff and its either sold out or just simply not available. its driving me mad. can anyone suggest anywhere where i might get some (or clear) where there isnt a minimum order quantity?? ive been to every single site/shop i can think of..i would guess at around 100 websites over 2 weeks. crazy modeler make some green tubing but i cannot find it for sale anywhere in the world..its sold out, not available, or some other such reason.

the only acceptable solution is to try and find somewhere that sells very fine clear tube and inject a thinned clear green into it..IF i can find a place that will sell me a syringe with a needle on it..another headache. i vaguely remember a site somewhere selling blunted hypodermic needles for non medical use but they were a) about £5 each, plus postage and had to come from Romania or somewhere..

hiroboy only have a few other colours ie flouro pink and i would estimate that 75% of their online stock is permanently unavailable...

does anyone know of anyshops or stockists in Japan?? Ive looked but to no avail.

Does it need to be clear? I have seen the fine wires from telephone cable used to good effect for cables and wiring for cars... also a heavy fishing line used for fuel pipes and the like....

Might be worth looking into.

Hi simon , if youre wanting a blunt syringe , you can sometimes get them in the Inkjet printer refill sets that you can pick up in poundshops. As for the tubing , i know it sounds a bit strange , but how about getting hold of some coloured drinking straws and try gently heating them over a candle and stretching them to get a thin translucent tube . You can get a boxfull for a quid and you never know it might just work! cheers tony

Simon, ive been racking my tiny brain and i reckon i might be onto something. I know its not hollow but what about this Strimmer Line replacement Heavy Duty 1.65mm Green Jem | eBay Its 1.65 mm diameter ,flexible and translucent green. If you search 'strimmer line' on e-bay theres thousands , all colours and various diameters , hope this is useful , cheers tony
