As usual I had a great time rooting through the bargain bins....."Go on, you know you want to buy it!" was the oft heard cry as we egged each other on to purchase kits.

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting my friends from S.M. once again. It was also great to see a couple of new faces. One was a bit worried 'cos his missus had run off somewhere with the credit card. Someone (as usual) just had to come away with the 'Biggest Kit Box of the Group' competition - again!

The Tunnocks and Eccles Cakes flowed as usual. The weather was kind, and yes it was one super day out.

I managed to grab a third in the diorama section with my Rorke's Drift model. I write 'grabbed' because there were some stunning models on the table and I consider myself very fortunate to have come away with a 'Stiff ticket' and a diddy trophy.

Thanks for a great time boys, and I hope you all got home safe and sound.

Ron

Old to hear you all had a great time and congrats on the trophy Ron.

However, what we all want to know is what did you buy? Or is it just me that is so nosey?

Top job Ron I would have come but the missus and myself have had the flu and to top it off she has a chest infection so is feeling pretty rough.

I don't think it would have gone down well had I buggered off to a show.

Great day out nice meeting up with everyone again. There's a group photo out there somewhere just need Ade to post it. I made a few purchases throughout the day. I'll put them in latest acquisitions :)

Cheers john

Nice to meet you again too John.

Thanks boys...I was very lucky, some of the stuff on show was mind boggling!

Like John, I will post my haul over on latest acquisitions.....Show them your FW190 John! :P

Cheers,

Ron

Ron leave my Fw190 alone the pilots armless and wouldn't hurt a fly.

Thanks for the tunnocks nose weight. :D

Had a great day out at Cosford today and meeting up with the loons from the forum really made my day, what a cracking bunch of genuine down to earth guys.chuffed that Ron made the x factor with his entry. I was astounded by the models on display and felt quite inadequate at my own efforts .I've arranged to visit my local club in Gloucester too which I'm excited about as I'm really shy and visiting the show really helped break the ice for me. Massive thanks to all from our forum for opening up new doors in our great little hobby

Yep! Thanks to the guys for making it another great day out - and another well-deserved trophy to go on Ron's shelf!

I do have to correct one of my earlier posts though. Tony DOES look that sinister! It's a good job he left his shades off else he would have frightened all the kids! :D :D

Sinister or not, I can't believe how much he knows about airplane kits though. All the re-boxes, new tool, good/bad reviews, prices - a real fountain of knowledge and useful information. And he can spot a bargain from 200 metres even when it's hidden in a box and you can't see the box for the people in the way! Thanks for all your help and guidance again Tony.

Another good haul for the stash:

I was rather pleased with the MTB as it included this set of paints:

Not sure if there will be enough though - this is a big kit at 65.5cm long. We'll have to wait and see. Not bad for £70!

Yes a fantastic day Ron , and Congratulations on your placing for the Rourkes Drift Dio, should have been a first in my opinion . tony

Right here's the group picture, apologies for the two strays I brought with me this time. David Bailey won't be there next year I don't think as he's not into models at all lol

Thanks Tony. I've had a look in the box and it does look pretty good - even though it's got about 10 times more parts than it really needs!

I'm well impressed with the Javelin though - thanks for talking me into it! The parts count is sensible and the surface detail is amazing. Panel lines, access panels/hatches (about 4 zillion of 'em!) and their associated rivets and fasteners are very crisp and sharp. There is a little flash and some seam lines here and there but these are barely noticeable, although I think care will be needed to make sure they're cleaned up so they don't throw the parts out of alignment - something we talked about briefly on Sunday. I've also looked at some build reviews and a couple of reviewers reckon it may be the best kit Airfix has ever made. Wow! It's moved pretty high up my build list.

I may have left with the biggest box - as usual, but I certainly didn't buy the mostest! Have you seen the haul that John's posted in Latest Acquisitions?! He kept that very quiet didn't he?

How much d'you reckon he'd pay us NOT to tell his missus? :)

Talking of which, d'you think Rob was safer letting the missus keep his card? I wonder what sort of hammering it would have got if he'd had it instead? ;)

Dave I always wait until the other half as her head deep inside her knitting bag before I ferret them though the hallway up the stairs straight into the loft. After all what they don't know about can't hurt them :) ;)
